I went in recently to exchange a battery that had been leaking and was still within the 3 year warranty. An elderly Hispanic man named "Joe" asked how he could help. I explained the situation and before I could finish my sentence he cut me off with an attitude and said that the warranty didn't cover damage. I asked if it didn't cover damage then what did it cover? He responded that if I wanted to read it in black in white then he'd print it out and show it to me. I agreed that yes I'd like to see it on paper. After a few moments of him clicking aimlessly on the computer he states, 'look sir I'm not going to argue with you, if you want to buy another battery then you can but I'm telling you the warranty does not cover it'. He then stated that another associate could help me because he refused to and just walked off in a huff.I waited a few minutes and a younger white gentleman that I assume to be the manager came to assist. He inspected the battery and sprinkled some baking soda to test for acid and even tested the battery for charge. He explained that unfortunately he could not do a warranty exchange for those reasons, for which I completely understand. If I would have received this type of customer service from the beginning then I probably would have purchased a new battery then and there. However, because I had to deal with rude Joe first, I decided to take my business to Autozone instead and purchased a brand new battery. Thanks to Joe, all of my future automotive purchases will be through Autozone, Napa, or Advance. It's employees like this that give good places a bad name. If I was the manager at that store, he would be immediately retrained on customer service and/or fired. In such a competitive industry where reviews and word of mouth hold a lot of weight, this type of behavior cannot be tolerated.

Hate leaving bad reviews but I feel something needs to be said. My car had been dying out all week. First thing that comes to mind is the battery. Until it just died and I needed to be jumped 2 days in a row. Now I forgot but I bought my battery here and it was still under warranty so I was relieved I didn't have to spend money on a new one. On Feb 22, at about 7 pm, I went after work, now it was really busy. The lot was full of cars, line was long. It looked like only 2 guys, working as fast as they could. When we finally got up, we mentioned how our battery was continuously dying this week but we had a warranty and it just needed to be switched out. and an older man helped us, he came and said it sounded like our alternator was the issue. Came out with a diagnostic type machine and hooked it up and said it read that it was our alternator. he shows me but I don't know how it works. Okay cool, but we still wanted to switch out the battery anyway. He begins talking us out of it. How if it's the alternator it doesn't matter if we switch it out, it will drain the battery. So still, I want the battery switched. then he got a little annoyed and was then telling us, that's fine, I can switch it out for you but Do you have tools, cause I can't help you do it, it's too busy. And no I don't have tools, I never had to switch it out myself before at Oreillys or anywhere else but I can go back home and get my tools. I can google it. and then he tells me, with warranty battery switches like this, he's not allowed to touch it, which first it was too busy and now hes not allowed. So Im like its fine, I will do it. And then again he goes into the alternator being the problem and he suggests we get that replaced and then come back for the battery, and honestly it was obvious he didn't want to do it, and maybe he was right. So I leave, find a mechanic close by to change the alternator for the next Monday. I told the mechanic this whole story. When I pick it up, the mechanic tells me, it was not the alternator and just a bad battery. He used his diagnostic machine and there was nothing about the alternator. He's like it all said the battery was bad. He went and got my battery switched out. and now the car works. He said he looked at my alternator and he would switch it out if I wanted but that it was not bad, in fact, it looked really good. and he has no idea why the person at Oreillys told me that. Now I am aware you should take any advice with a grain of salt. But had I just gotten my battery switched out for free like I wanted and asked that night. I wouldn't be out $125 for nothing. I wouldn't have had to use Lyft to get to work or go the weekend without a car. This doesn't sound like a huge problem but it can be annoying when you have things to do and have to ask for a ride. Had I been told hey it's really busy, if I could come back later or tomorrow morning to switch it out, I would've had no issue. I live less than a mile away. and I wouldn't have even posted a review had this man not talked me out of getting the free battery 3 times when I asked for it and redirected me to an issue that was not the problem at all.
