I grew up here from 1991-2001. Without this place, I would not be the successful husband, father, sailor, leader and author I am today. This place gave me a second family and a second chance!

I've volunteered at Boysville for many years. While no place is perfect, they really strive to provide a safe family environment for kids who come from troubled families, unsafe environments, and financially challenged environments. I commend Boysville for serving the community of children in and around Bexar County and South Texas.

I used to live in Boysville of Converse Texas back in 85 to 87 and it taught me how to deal with life's problems and finding a positive reaction to do the right thing. Thank you for your time and patience with me. God bless you all and forever more!!!!

The emergency shelter does not effectively communicate with parents. Official documents were not given to me, who to make grievances to, schedule info or rules, etc. They missed medication dosages for my disabled child with mental health disorders and ignored my requests for explanations. They administered incorrect dosages and when I asked for clarification on medications, my requests were ignored. They had my child see a psychiatrist I never consented to, despite her already having a doctor she sees, this was corrected, however, by the time I could get this fixed, they changed my daughters medication list (again without my consent). My child was harassed by another child, touched and hit, and an incident report was never made and I was never notified of it by staff. Every time I ask questions about the treatment and care my child receives, I’m met with unprofessional and defensive comments and responses. I’ve never lost my rights as a parent snd I am the one to reach out for mental health treatment help through jmc but I’m treated like I’m unwanted in the case, like I’m asking too many questions and in the end , my child is further traumatized and untreated. Staff allowed my child to steal and laughed at the event as it happened, they talked negatively about me to my child and they lied to my face when I tried to share with them that other kids in the cottage were threatening my child (they knew about it but told me nothing was going on and became defensive and upset with me). I would never recommend this place to family and friends and most definitely would not recommend this place for kids with high level of care needed or with mental health needs. That’s my personal experience and I hope others don’t experience this, especially kids who do not have advocates or parents active in their lives. It’s a shame how staff operate at the emergency shelter, not all but those few I’ve had to communicate with are incompetent in caring for children with high level needs and lack the professionalism to work with parents and medical issues and can’t communicate effectively. I’ve tried reporting these issues and concerns but, again, I do not have contact lists for staff at Boysville to speak with an advocate or administrator. I’ve left messages through what I could find on google about this place, this seems to be my only resource.

They will just violating children's privacy, human rights, and personal property rights. They do not have any valid documents. I believe they even think that their rule can overwrite the constitution.

Amazing organization that does so much for the kids. Everyone at Boysville really cares about making sure the kids are safe and happy.
