Do not do business here. I have to pay an extra $1,000 for 6 months insurance after paying the same 6 months of insurance. They are scammers.

I have had an SBA loan with Spirit of Texas Bank for 2 1/2 years. Initially, they were great. In the last 18 months, they had some personnel turnover and now their customer service is beyond bad. Their people are obviously overloaded as their communication with us is awful. They seldom respond to emails. When I call them, they make me verbal promises about getting back to us on certain items and seldom follow through. I am beyond frustrated with this bank. If I could move my SBA loan away from them to another bank, I would do it in a minute.

@spiritoftexasbank I have never been so demoralized by the experience I had today at the Post Oak location with Sherri and branch manager George. I drove there thinking I would open an account and to my dismay the teller Sherri asked if I had a backpack and I told her that no it's my purse and she told me that I needed to take it outside of the bank. I asked why, she said because it's a backpack. I explained that it wasn't and even offered for her and manager George to look at the purses website but as you see in the picture I had to place it outside the door, and to add insult to injury she says I will have to call to verify the validity of the checks and called the writer of the checks, and charged me a 1 percent fee per check although they were each written by the same person. I want you to know and I told them that I felt rationally attacked. I also told them that if they think my purse is a backpack, they could have had me open it up to the armed guard. So, a woman with a large purse can come in but my small purse doesn't fly. I will be contacting any and everyone because this was not a Jansport. She kept saying she doesn't make the rules, well your rules if it truly is factual need to be clear immediately. I didn't walk in with it on my back, it was on one shoulder, no different than a purse with two straps.

This is the most incompetent group of managers I have encountered in my thirty years of business banking. They took some excellent employees of a previous branch bank and overlaid incompetent management and systems to create a failed environment for employees and customers alike. Requiring written mailed checks for payoffs rather than a wire? Really? Wait months for lien releases? I have many more specific instances of the pathetic operation. Stay away to keep your sanity.

This is the worst bank I have ever dealt with. Only deal with this bank if you want troubles and to waist your time. I signed up first day for the PPP, and after giving them all my federal and state information I never heard from them again. I sent numerous emails and phone calls and finally had to call a different branch to get the person I was dealing with to call me back. I had to do this multiple times. Then they said I did not provide them with enough info, even though in my multiple emails I said let me know if you need anything else. Let me clarify that they were asking me for information that was not needed for PPP because I had already helped my daughter submit one for her business through another bank. These guys lied to me and then blew me off. They are not a bank I would ever consider banking with because they are not trustworthy or honest. Definitely not a Texas philosophy where you waist your clients time, lie to them, and then say ... sorry...Is that the Spirit of Texas? I will be filing a complaint with the SBA.

Not a good bank to keep your money if you run a small business. They limit transactions to $2500 a day, and if you need more than that you have to call them and tell them why, and who you're buying from. They don't offer an easy way to permanently raise your limit. Not only that, if you're a business like me and you operate on the weekends, forget about making any transactions. There is nobody to speak with to raise your limits on the weekends. So if you have a reason to make a large, unplanned purchase on the weekend, their answer to you is--wait till Monday. We're closing our account here and moving to Navy Federal Credit Union.

Originally we banked with this bank in Snook, TX then it was bought out by Spirit of Texas and since I lived in College Station we kept the account. Over the years they have helped with a Mortgage loan and they were VERY helpful when my parents passed away and we needed to deal with the estate issues. Always friendly staff and good service.

Best bank in town. Spirit of Texas Bank puts a lot back into the community. That means a lot to a Texan like me!
