I love this local place! Been there many times and Noah at the counter is always so helpful. I needed something hardy and annual for my front patio pots that are large and too hard to move daily out of the direct sun so they’d always die. He had lots of great advice and wanted to see our plants thrive! Will be back again

I wanted to get my front yard landscaped, so I stopped by Big John's about mid-March. I left my name & number after talking to the young woman, with the promise of a call back about mid-April. At the end of April, I called back since I had not heard, and spoke to David, who said I was next on his list. He said he'd be out by the end of the week or the beginning of the following week. Time passed. At the end of the first week of may I called again to touch base, and was told he'd call me back. I have not heard from anyone. I am unhappy that I have been given the run-around about a large job I hoped to have done. I don't know why they seem unwilling to give me a call.

Today was my first time visiting the nursery and a young lady by the name of Sam was extremely helpful in showing me and recommending the right plants and annuals that would meet my needs!! I was very impressed with the quality of the customer service and the selection!! I definitely recommend them!! And I will be a returning customer.

This is the best nursery I’ve personally ever been to. And I can’t say enough about Sam! So knowledgeable and helpful. Even though she was at the nursery alone, she showed everyone(including my 1yo) personal attention. I had so many questions and she was so patient. I’ll be back and hopefully I’ll end up with a green thumb.

In my opinion, Big John's is the best nursery in the Cedar Hill area.
The staff I have interacted with have been well-educated and experienced with regard to Texas gardening. An employee named Sam, in particular, is phenomenal. She has in-depth knowledge about native Texas trees and plants and she does not mind helping inexperienced customers like me figure out various aspects of planting trees and plants in the backyard. Today, she spent quite a bit of time answering questions that my husband and I had about planting crepe myrtles and she provided suggestions as to how far to plant them from our fence line - all while also continuing to help make sure other customers were being taken care of as well. She provided suggestions as to additional plants that might well in our yard. She explained how Big John's tree and shrub delivery and installation work. Finally, she informed us of Big John's warranty program.
In terms of merchandise, Big John's Nursery has a great variety of plants, shrubs, trees, soils, mulches, and related items to look at and choose from.
A+ business in my book.

Staff are kind. Unfortunately I must have picked a bad rose pot. I followed the written instructions and repotted it with miracle gro and watering daily not to touch the canes. Picture attached is at two weeks and there were cane dieback so I trimmed it (angular snap at the green healthy portion). Now at four weeks the whole rose plant died. Sad bc it was $43 and I don’t have a rose plant

Big John’s Nursery is the absolute best place to get your plants. I wasn’t too sure what I wanted, but Sam helped me in getting some pollinator plants that fit my needs! Such a great experience!!

The service we got today was awesome. Sam was so knowledgeable and helped us pick out exactly what we were looking for. This is our new go to place and worth the 1 hour drive for us. Thanks again, see you next weekend.

Sam did a wonderful job answering all of the questions we had about planting trees and the area. She is a true plant expert! If you have any questions about any kind of plants recommend you go to Sam and talk to her :).

we have always come to Big John's and have never had a bad experience. Sam helped us out and she was fantastic! she knew the answers to all of our questions and gave great advice on the flowers and plants we got. Sam is highly recommended to help out and give great advice on plants/flowers!
