I have been taking pets to Dr Carter since the 70s. It's usually easy yo get in for the vaccine, but for a sick pet is harder.

Had high hopes based on recommendations, but wasn't overly impressed on our first visit. They did their jobs but did not make us or our pet feel special (which in our past experiences elsewhere the vets and technicians always did). Also very difficult to find if you are not familiar with the location.

Castroville Vet Clinic killed our baby yesterday and Dr Carter refuses to take responsibility for it. We did chest compressions on her for 30 minutes trying to get her back. We got her back once and her heart stopped again. She ended up dying in my living room in front of my daughter. I went to the clinic to talk to Dr. Carter this morning and he said I’m sorry you lost your dog but I didn’t do anything negligent. He said she probably died from post surgery shock and that can happen from bleeding out internally but he couldn’t be sure of that. Please do not bring your pets to him. Daisy was a healthy girl and is now dead after getting a spay surgery.

We found this clinic close to our home and loved our experience. Reasonable priced, easy to schedule appointments and quick service.When it was time to say goodbye to our pet, they were compassionate and gave us time in a room to say goodbye. I used the cremation services and was pleased with the urn and paw print.

PLEASE DO NOT MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE I DID! It seems as if they were accesively rough on my dog because she was released with a brand new tear in her harness! Vet called to inform me that they were finished doing work on my dog, but then explained that I couldn't come pick her up for another 5 hours and DID NOT LET me come pick up my animal! Then I show up to get her having already called in late to work, they demanded payment first and then made me wait 20 more minutes in the lobby! Absolutely worst office staff I have ever witnessed in my life! Please go ANYWHERE else if you care about your time, and the safety of your animal. The lack of respect and consideration at this establishment is disgusting!

This clinic has an amazing vet and great staff! They were able to answer all my question promptly and we were able to get our dog in for spay and shots within the week.

I really didn't want to have to do this, but I feel like everyone should know. Yesterday morning, I took my dog to the Castroville vet for some x-rays. They told me my dog needs to be there at 8:30 AM and that they would call me when they were done. I got a call at 11:30 AM saying that she completed her x-rays without sedation so at that point I thought we could just go pick her up. When we told them we were coming to get her they told us that we weren't allowed to pick her up until 2:30 PM because they wanted to talk to us about her results. I work at 2 PM so we thought about just picking her up and just rescheduling a meeting for the next day. When we got there, they came out and just told us some basic information that they could've just said on the phone. And still didn't release our dog to us for another half an hour. The front desk lady Melinda was completely rude the entire time. They didn't respect the fact that I told them I didn't want to sign a sedation form. I told them if they couldn't get her x-rays without sedation we didn't want to do it. They told me that if I didn't sign the form for sedation that could cause death that I "might as well go somewhere else." My dog has been having problems for a couple weeks now and it was hard to even get her into the vet. So my options were limited, and they gave me no other choice. I think the really big thing that bothered me was they wouldn't release my dog to me almost basically holding her hostage in a kennel for six hours even though she was done after three. I don't know about you, but my dog is my baby and it literally makes me feel sick to my stomach that I gave her to people that wouldn't give her back. They continued to see other patients while we stood in the waiting room for them to get our dog. At that point we just told them that we were about to go get her ourselves after waiting three hours of her sitting in a kennel. My dog is very well trained and very well behaved to where I just don't understand this type of treatment. Unfortunately, after having that experience, we started looking at some of the reviews and this is happened to, A LOT of people. They say it's the way they run their business but personally, it's the way they lose business. I will NEVER take my dog to this clinic EVER again.

Where do I start?!?! The team is amazing, Marlinda is very helpful and understanding when it comes to explaining my dog’s situation. They are all scared of other humans, so they are a bit aggressive with barking when I come in, but they handle my dogs like the pros they are.I have always felt comfortable with knowing I will get the best possible medical attention for my dogs. They are my babies and I wouldn’t trust anyone else to care for them.Thank you to the entire staff for always being kind and patient when it comes to my dogs - even though they bark and can be buttheads, I know they thank y’all too.

I have been coming to this office for over 25 years. I travel from San Antonio to come here due to prices, service, and quality care as compared to other vets in San Antonio. It is worth the drive.

Amazing service and care!! We had an emergency situation and had trouble finding care for our sheep, but thankfully this clinic was able to see us. They came to the car to assess our situation and care for our sheep. Genuine concern and care!! ????

First time client I had scheduled to see the vet for my puppy. When arrived customer service was very awful and then was told my appointment was scheduled with a tech and not a vet when over the phone it was clear I scheduled with a vet. Overall experience was a 1/10.
