I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Canyon, Texas, and I must say it was a delightful experience. The hotel, conveniently located at 2901 4th Avenue, Canyon, TX 79015, is in close proximity to the breathtaking Palo Duro Canyon State Park.During our three-night stay, the hotel's exceptional cleanliness, delicious breakfast offerings, prime location, and the warm hospitality of the staff made our visit truly memorable. A standout was the efficient and friendly lady managing the kitchen. Despite ongoing renovations, she ensured that the remodeling didn't affect the guests' experience. Her dedication to providing excellent service was evident in every aspect.I would like to express my gratitude for her outstanding attitude and efficiency. Despite the kitchen undergoing renovations, she went above and beyond to assist guests with valuable guidance and suggestions about the surrounding area. One particular instance stood out when I needed an empty cardboard box for my car, and she not only found one promptly but also provided the tape to make it functional – all accompanied by a genuine and helpful smile. It's employees like her that truly make an establishment shine, fostering an environment of excellence and earning loyal customers. Thank you, Holiday Inn Express Canyon, for a wonderful stay filled with exceptional service and warmth. I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting the area.

After being in the car for 7+ hours, we arrived at our hotel ready to relax and utilize a jetted tub and maybe even the actual hot tub. Upon arrival, the front desk had no one there. We saw a sign that said “pick up the black lobby phone” but no further instructions. Along with a sign saying that the hot tub is closed. No worries, I thought, considering our room should have a jetted tub. The phone was hidden around a corner.. So for a second there we were a bit confused. I found the phone and decided to dial the front desk, even though there wasn’t a person in sight. After the phone rang, a young man appeared from the back. Might be a good idea to have a bell or phone in sight with better instructions.. We checked in and received our room key. When we get inside the room, I immediately looked around for the tub because I was ready to enjoy a soak after a long drive. No jetted tub. So I go back to the front and have to call the clerk again to come out of the back. I tell him that we purchased a room with a jetted tub but obviously are missing that. He informs me that they are remodeling and there are actually no more rooms with such thing. He mentions normally the hot tub is open but they are remodeling.. He says that his manager has been meaning to update the website to exclude “jetted tub” but has yet to update it.. This is where I’m frustrated. I am an IHG rewards member. When I purchased this room for $150 - I was expecting a room with a jetted tub, clean towels, and a community hot tub. I am allowed to cancel the reservation for free until 24 hours before, if needed. I received no email, no heads up, the website says nothing about renovations- no warning anywhere- that you are paying $150 for JUST a room to sleep in with absolutely no amenities and dirty towels.. I explain to the front desk guy that I paid a good price expecting a lot more than I was getting. No type of argument or anything, just matter-of-fact. He responded with “I can’t do anything myself but if you would like to plead your case with my manager tomorrow morning, you can, but I’m not sure they can do anything for you either”. I told him thanks, I get it, and walked away. Because I could tell from just the response that this would be a headache to complain over with no option for a happy ending. What this hotel is doing, is false advertising. I could have saved $50 or potentially more, at a neighboring hotel, if I knew all I was getting was a bed to sleep in. I decided to spend a little extra, because my partner and I had planned to travel this direction. Where I was hoping to have a nice, lowkey romantic night before another long drive the next morning. The only “extra” this location offers, is breakfast.I’ve stayed at hotels in the area near by that offer breakfast included in the price, for much less, and they do not advertise more than what actually exists inside the hotel. The room seemed fairly clean. Although we did have two dirty towels.. But after the major implications that this hotel does not care to go the extra mile for its guests, I just used the smaller hand towels to dry off after my shower instead of asking for more.Just seems like a scam to me, to offer much more online, only to be dissatisfied and disappointed in person. In this economy, it would be nice to know exactly what you are paying for. I feel swindled out of my money, as there were more hotels in the area for cheaper, offering the exact same things - they were just honest. I really don’t like feeling like I’ve been taken advantage of financially and for that reason I’m giving this hotel 1/10 stars. Americans are struggling to make ends meet right now. This is just disrespectful and rude to not update. Considering I could’ve cancelled for free, had I been informed in advance. Do better.

Was quoted a $25 per night pet fee on the 800# when reservation was made, hotel charged $75 per night at check out. Didn't catch the over charge until later. Called hotel and Jessica the clerk on duty argued that it was accurate because the motel was remodeling. Not sure what that had to do with it.FYI, Best Western down the street charges $15 per night pet fee.Beware of this hotel.

Excellent staff and great room! We had a lovely stay at the Holiday Inn in Canyon, Texas. It is very convient to Palo Duro Canyon. This hotel has real suites, which means a two bedroom, two bath hotel room, with a stand up shower in one bedroom and a bath tub in the other. There is a small kitchenette and a large living room too. This is a great choice for family travel--a room for the kids and a room for the grownups. Very comfortable beds, and all-in-all, a great quiet stay. Front desk staff gets 4 stars. Also note, there is a Denny's about five minutes away if you want to get a big breakfast. If we get up that way again, we will definitely stay in the Holiday Inn.

During my week long stay while in Canyon, the hotel was going through renovations. I was told at check-in this was occurring and it is going quickly. This hotel was built in 1998 so I'd expect updates were needed at some point in time. This made no impact at all on my stay there. The workers were on my hallway the first two days I was there. They were polite and patient with guests passing through. There were not many guests though first of the week. I often chatted briefly with a couple of them while waiting for the elevator. My room was quiet, clean and comfortable. Everything worked well. The elevator landing is small. The size of the elevator, in my opinion, is appropriate for the size of the hotel, but that waiting area just outside the doors of the elevator is small. It's tricky pushing the luggage cart out of the elevator where multiple people are waiting huddled close to the door. I'm sure the weekends are quite busy. The clerks were wonderful. They processed my check-in quickly and provided everything I needed for a good week. There was no problem with wifi, a good choice of TV channels if you watch TV. Housekeeping, impeccable. The morning breakfast was standard with the traditional complimentary breakfast. There is an indoor pool but I cannot write about this for I did not use the pool. The location of this hotel is 2 miles from West Texas A&M and about an mile and half from the I-27. There is a wonderful steakhouse next door and ease to get around town.I would recommend this hotel and I surely will return in the future.

The first front desk clerk I encountered was very polite and helpful. She updated me on the wait time for our room and wanted to make sure the online info was corrected (I was emailed to check-in at 12, but check-in isn’t until 3).When I was finally able to check in a different woman was there - she was extremely rude and confrontational. I had offered a confirmation number through email but still asked for ID and debit card so I asked if a digital copy was okay - to which she did not reply. I asked again and was ignored. She became increasingly rude saying she still needed an ID and debit card. To which I reply, “I’ve been asking if the digital copy is okay,” while showing my phone. Even after offering to provide the digital copy of my ID and card (as I didn’t have my wallet), she demanded to know why I didn’t have a wallet, where it was, where my boyfriend was (whose name the reservation was made under), would he be back from work later. She was impatient with the fact that my name did not match my husband’s and that there wasn’t “a company or anything” on the reservation (not sure what that matters). In the end she decided to call him and confirm that I could check in under his name referring to me as “some lady”. I’m not sure why she didn’t do that in the first place instead of being confrontational and unnecessarily hostile. I was not treated like a customer, I was treated like a nuisance. For whatever reason it seems our interaction was personal. Hope no one else has to deal with being treated so unwelcoming especially after planning your day around an incorrect check in time with a toddler and dog. Also the pet fee is $75 PER DAY. It’s not a one time fee. It’s not a deposit you get back if your dog doesn’t sh*t on the carpet. Most hotels have a one time fee for pets so explore your options before choosing Holiday Inn.

Unfriendly/unhelpful front desk. VERY loud construction noises coming from up on the third floor. My toilet was so loose and wobbly, I thought it would tip over. Nobody cleaned my room. Construction materials just stacked in the way in the stairwell. Stay at the nicer place next door.

If I could give more stars, I would. Check in was friendly and easy. The Room was large, clean, and the carpet was fantastic, almost sponge like. Very comfortable. They had all the amenities and I really like the shampoo and soap dispensers in the shower. Way better than little bottles. And the breakfast was amazing. Many choices, hot and cold.

The housekeeping schedule is pretty limited. You need to request it on a form and they will possibly come to clean. This hotel is really outdated. Broken outlet, a broken lock on my window, and the bathroom seemed very run down. Laundry is 1.75 for a wash and dry. My room was right by the ice machine, so every time someone got ice, I heard it. Breakfast was decent with a lot of choices. The staff is very friendly.

Elevator was not working our entire stay and we were on the 3rd floor with heavy luggage. Chargers at lamps did not work and some lamp bulbs were also out. Would not recommend.

It's tough getting a great score with a very old building. Everything is old. Building, mattress, fitness center equipment. If you're in a pinch this works.. 5.5 out of 10. Also, the signs outside that reassure you being in your own if things get stolen from your car is not something i see very often. The good: front desk is quick and try to be efficient. Easy check in and out. It's great in a pinch.

We stayed two nights while visiting the canyon park nearby. For a small-town hotel this HI Express met our expectations. The room was okay. The large indoor pool and hot tub were nice. The night manager and day manager could use some additional training but the other employees were friendly.

We had a wonderful stay and Kevin was more than helpful! Sean helped me when I checked out figuring out my reward points. He was super helpful and patient and let me download the app there and go over everything. Thank you for being so accommodating Holiday Inn express in Canyon! We genuinely enjoyed our stay. Holiday Inn is consistently consistent! Also, there were 2 college softball teams that rolled in when we were there and the staff and especially the kitchen staff handled it seamlessly! We really had no interruption in accommodations at all.

We spent the evening at this Holiday Inn location and had a very good stay. The hotel is a little outdated but the rooms are very clean and the staff is very helpful and friendly. They have a good complimentary breakfast and the hotel is located between Amarillo (much closer to Amarillo) and Lubbock Texas. There are numerous restaurants and shops near this hotel. This is a great place to stay with a family or solo.
