Brookshire Brothers is an employee-owned grocery chain rooted in the community, with over 120 locations across Texas and Louisiana. Established in 1921 in Lufkin, Texas, it serves many rural areas and offers a variety of shopping options, including traditional grocery stores, express stores, and standalone pharmacies, petro, and tobacco outlets. Customers appreciate the store's friendly, small-town vibe and often choose it over larger chains to support local businesses and save on gas. The pharmacy services are highly valued, with many customers relying on it for decades and finding the staff professional and helpful. The deli is known for its delicious chicken, though some have noted that certain items like potato logs are no longer available, and there are occasional concerns about meat packaging and freshness. The bakery is praised for its creative cake designs at fair prices, and the bathrooms are consistently clean. While prices tend to be a bit higher, shoppers feel it’s worth it for the convenience and support of the local store. Some customers mention dissatisfaction with corporate personnel but still enjoy helping customers and offering products not found in bigger stores. Overall, Brookshire Brothers combines community charm, quality service, and a wide range of products, making it a favored local grocery choice.
Clean environment but prices are not competitive to other grocery stores. Too expensive.

I had an excellent experience here. The produce was fresh, the staff friendly and knowledgable, the shelves well stocked. A Walmart has opened right next door to them. Shop local, and if you can afford it, avoid loss leader.

Employees are always great but their prices are high. It's convenient when we need something in a pinch though.
