Have had the hitchgate high clearance unit. 3+ years in and I'm looking into getting a hitchgate max for a new 4Runner I got in the garage. Unit does have slight rust where the pin slides into, more than likely due to the metal on metal contact which can be addressed with a spray paint can.

They will not answer the phone - EVER. I could call 5x a day every single day for a year and they will not answer the phone. Horrible customer service

Great products; that’s why they get three stars. Customer service; not so much. And good luck finding what you’re looking for on their website, which is opposite of intuitive and almost impossible to find parts, unless you somehow already have the part number. They have a phone number, but no one will answer it. Ever. Rarely will one receive an email that’s not an auto-generated order confirmation. I was sent the wrong part, without the hardware. When I asked about getting the correct part, I was sent the hardware for the wrong part with directions to install the part on the swing gate I did not have. This was after I sent photos of my Wilco Hitchgate Max. I will make the part myself.

I found the sales rep to be very helpful and went beyond the call of duty to help me find the right tire carrier.

After many years of use , my swinging hitch arm developed cracks in the weld after encountering very heavy crosswinds with a high surface area load. They replaced my swing hitch arm for free. Sean was very helpful.

I can't say enough good things about Wilco Offroad or their sales manager Shane. I started with a swing-hitchgate tire carrier for my 4Runner last year, did something mistakenly with it and needed a small replacement part. Shane was very helpful in facilitating that tiny replacement part, and explained everything that I could ever want to know about that hitchgate. Shane also took the time to get to know me little bit, and was able to answer other questions I had about just what I could bolt-on to this hitchgate. His main concern was that I was happy with their products, happy with the adventures I could go on because of them, and he was focused on increasing my ability to enjoy my life. This lead to me ordering a few more accessories that I was flirting with for quite some time, and he was able to fit everything into one box to save us all on shipping.I'm a small business owner myself, and spend so much of my time on the phone with other companies and service providers, that when someone goes really above and beyond what everyone else is doing to ensure that their client is happy.. it really stands out. Shane has done just that, it was an absolute pleasure to work and converse with him, he's the kind of guy that just seems to make a company run better, I swear I actually heard him juggling half a dozen other things while helping me out. What a guy, give this man a raise! Thanks always for making amazing off-roading products, and for being all-around awesome of a company. I recommend Wilco products to everyone who stops me to talk about my 4runner, they're the best! Have a great day, you all deserve it. -RJE

Had a few wear and tear.issues with my Hitchgate, so I dropped by the shop and they took great care of me. Thanks to Shane and Jeremy (and the other two whose names escape me) for taking time out of their busy day to hook me up with some new parts—AND install them on the spot to keep my Wilco carrier in tip-top shape. Killer customer service!

Don't buy any of their products if you're in a remotely cold climate; they'll rust out in less than a year. Also had issues with Wilcos customer service; my girlfriend lost our hitch pin and BOUGHT a new one. New one came scratched up like it was already used and the ball joint popped out after a week and the tether completely rusted through in about a month. Had to argue with them just to get a replacement. I'd avoid this brand, do yourself a favor and if you're looking for a hitch, just save up the money and get a heavy duty one mounted to your bumper.

Tire carrier set up for left side for spare tire. Receiver set up for right side. Had to move locking mechanism over to left side. When you pay $1500 for a spare tire carrier plus $350 for shipping the customer should not have to spend time fixing vendor's error.

Charging Texas sales tax on all orders even to states without sales tax? Pure laziness on your end Wilco. I'll take my future business elsewhere.edit: Since Wilco responded to say they are just following state law , I thought I'd post the actual info here since they seem to be confused. The Texas Comptroller website (@texas.gov) lays it out pretty simply:"Texas sellers do not need to collect Texas sales tax on items shipped and delivered to out-of-state locations."And the law itself is pretty black and white as well:"Sec. 151.330. INTERSTATE SHIPMENTS, COMMON CARRIERS, AND SERVICES ACROSS STATE LINES. (a) The sale of tangible personal property that under the sales contract is shipped to a point outside this state is exempted from the sales tax imposed by Subchapter C of this chapter if the shipment is made by the seller by means of:(1) the facilities of the seller;(2) delivery by the seller to a carrier for shipment to a consignee at a point outside this state;"

Great company - high quality products and helpful team members. Ordered the Hitchgate Max with a cargo tray, Rotopax/mounts and a HiLift Jack mount. Extremely sturdy and well built. Packaged with custom sprayed foam - all parts delivered in mint condition by freight. Important to note that supply chain issues have affected Wilco the same as most other companies. The order lead time is longer than the pre-pandemic market - that said communication was solid with updates provided and every effort made to deliver timely. Product delivered prior to my Colorado trip and performed nearly flawlessly on Ophir, Imogene and Engineer Passes. Only issue was a tight fit when loaded that was fixed by applying some grease to the gate pin lock area. Assembly does require a reasonable amount of problem solving as the directions are concise and require some vehicle specific interpretations. Wilco support helpful in confirming the need to trim the silicone wheel cone that keeps the spare mounted - all else I was able to navigate through. Also, although I managed to complete the install solo, it would likely be easier with another person as the parts are heavy and can be difficult to balance. Due to optional configurations, there are a few leftover nuts/bolts, etc. however, everything needed was included. Highly recommend the products - super happy!

This company makes great products and is really innovative. If you’re an off road enthusiast these guys can provide you with a lot of cool accessories. They also are really quick to respond if you have questions via email. However, make 100% sure to measure out and plan for your purchase. These guys have a “flat rate” shipping charge. A 10 pound package cost me $45 to ship from Texas to Utah. The purchase I made didn’t fit my rig as described on the website unfortunately. Come to find out there is a whopping 25% restock fee if you want to return something. For me to ship this product back to Wilco would be $20, plus $40 for the restock fee, and $45 for the original shipping costs. If I return this product that is worthless to me I will be out $105 with nothing to show for it.Shop carefully not confidently with Wilco.

My experience with Wilco Offroad has been incredibly disappointing and irritating. The first week of June I had ordered a high clearance Hitchgate Solo, Hitchgate accessory plate kit, and some other small accessories. My order shipped within two weeks but upon opening the package, I discovered the Hitchgate was poorly packaged and arrived damaged. Scratches, damaged edges, paint missing, gouges in the metal, and rust. There were also a number of parts missing and I contacted Wilco Offroad immediately. That was 31 days ago and the issues with the products received have still been unresolved. Customer support is virtually non-existent, even when the problems originated from poor quality control on packaging on behalf of Wilco Offroad. It took a number of attempts to get in contact with Wilco Offroad to even get a response let alone any movement to remedy the issue. After two weeks of attempting to resolve the issues with my order and receiving no response, I finally was contacted by the general manager offering a replacement or other remedy as the unit I received was unacceptable to the standard of Wilco Offroad, to which I expressed my concern that a new unit does no good if the company is clearly unwilling to support the customer if any issues arise and that I would like to give them the opportunity to do right and send the missing parts sent to me and to receive a partial refund to keep the unit or provide a full refund if not.Despite being told a number of times, even with the general managers involvement, I did not receive any replacement parts until almost four weeks after I was originally told they had shipped. Even then, I was still sent incorrect parts. It also took weeks of being told by a number of people at Wilco Offroad that I would receive a return label before I had actually received it. After receiving the Accessory plate kit off back ordered, it also arrived damaged from being improperly packed and doesn't even fit Rotopax mounts that it's advertised to be compatible with, without modification to the accessory plate. Wilco Offroad was contacted a number of times, including the general manager, regarding the incorrect parts sent to me and the damaged accessory plate that needs to be modified to function with the Rotopax mounts with no response in the past seven days. It's unbelievable that a company, especially it's management thinks the customer support during this experience is acceptable. Even after the issues with the poor customer service, lack of qc, and no accountability taken place had been addressed, the issues with my experience are just reinforced through the actions of Wilco Offroad.
