I just can't say enough good things about Gilbert - his skill, his knowledge and his integrity are all absolutely first rate.
I'm a hands-on kind of person, but because I'm a woman, I often have to deal with mechanics trying to talk down to me, dismiss my information, or sell me services I don't need (ladies, you know what I'm talking about!)
Gilbert is the opposite of that. First, he really, really understands cars, and Subarus in particular (better than any mechanic I have ever had). He is honest, explains things really well. He often let me join him in the garage to show me what he was doing and explain why. When I had super weird things going on, he would brianstorm with me to figure it out. He always went the extra mile to find a solution, and when my car got to the end of its life, he was honest about that too.
If you have a Subaru, see Gilbert. He is simply the best.

Gilbert is great. Gives you a clear picture of what you need and does not oversell. I can trust what he says and his work is top notch. Cannot recommend him enough. If you have a Subaru...do not go anywhere else for service.

New to the area, and found these reviews on Yelp. Gilbert is fantastic, and his prices are as well. Called about a rubbing sound from the back end of our 2015 Subaru Forester, and he had us come by the next morning. Diagnosed it, gave us the price estimate to the penny, and then it was done before Noon as he indicated. Price was the same and the issue fixed. Thrilled we have found the only service location for our Subaru. Great job Gilbert, thank you for everything!

Recently purchased a 2015 Subaru WRX. After driving it for a couple weeks, the AC stopped cooling. Found Moonlight Automotive doing a search for Subaru specialist. After speaking with Gilbert over the phone, we brought the car and left it overnight. He called me early the next morning stating he found the leak to be o-rings from the lines that attach to the compressor. My ac was repaired quickly & at a fair price. Its very refreshing to find an honest shop that specializes in Subaru just a few miles away from my place. I get good vibes from Gilbert & his shop. I'll definitely be bringing my car back anytime it needs repairs or service.

Gilbert was super friendly and explained everything thoroughly. I wanted to get a second opinion on my car and have someone do a diagnostic on it since I bought a used vehicle from car max and my a/c went out. He even opened the trunk of my Subaru and let me know what was wrong with it, and how to fix it. That’s the first time a mechanic has ever explained anything that’s made sense to me! I definitely recommend Gilbert if you need someone you can trust, who has reasonable prices!!Service: General repairs & maintenance

Gilbert is an amazing mechanic. My 2007 WRX runs great now after I had taken it to him for some exhaust repairs. He also did a once over to check the car before I had it inspected. If you have a subaru do not hesitate on bringing to Moonlight Automotive.

Hands down the greatest Subaru mechanic in Austin area. Gilbert is very thorough. Even when I brought car back in due to new leak, Gilbert went above and beyond to make sure I am happy. Take my wrx to Gilbert for maintanence because I don’t trust anyone else to do it right and he’s got many years of experience and knowledge to back that up. Does quality work and fills my windshield wiper fluid and tires as a courtesy, super cool guy and wouldn’t take my car to anyone else.
