Though they were having technical issues with their phone (website encourages you to call ahead), Donna and Alex were very accommodating of our group of 11 dropping in on them and worked us around a scheduled tour. All in our group had a great time experiencing 'something different' and it felt good to be giving to a local, family-run business who takes good care of their animals. This is a fun learning activity for all ages - not only was the petting of the Alpacas fun but Donna was great about spending time with our super curious young boys (6-11) and she even let them try a couple of her yarn making machines. Even though the Alpacas had a group visit them earlier in the day, they were very active and loving with our group (we were there a little before 1:30 p.m.). We got lots of great pictures and all enjoyed learning about these animals and making new friends. I'd recommend this 'off-the-path' tour for all families. FYI, it's $10/person and we easily spent two hours with them - well worth the experience.

This farm is run privately by a 'retired' couple. They were very welcoming, friendly, and informative. The alpacas were fascinating and friendly - but not 'cuddly'.

We were very pleasantly surprised with our morning visit to Royal Oaks Alpacas. The alpaca farm is clean and the animals are cared for very well. We got to pet them and go in the pen with the females and babies. The owners of the farm told us all about their story of obtaining the alpacas and how to care for them. Go to the Royal Oaks Alpacas website for lots of information. I took over 350 pictures in less than 1 1/2 hours... and would have taken more if my camera battery hadn't died. The animals are very photogenic. If you are an animal lover and like to spend time learning about animals... this is a great place. And... surprisingly, the alpacas don't smell bad!
