We paid them over $4,000 for the service of having them damage our car further.
My family took out Jeep in months ago because it's making this clunking vibration when turning. We were told it would cost about $700 and wouldn't take long, they just needed to order a part. Just over half a month later, we were told that they were instead going to ship part of the car off the be rebuilt, and it would cost about $1,400 instead.
At that point, they went silent. We attempted to contact them, but never got an answer or a response to any of our messages. Over a month later, a friend of the family finally managed to get ahold of them, at which point they said they were still working on it.
Another month later, the Jeep having been gone for nearly three months at this point, we're informed that there is now, suddenly, three months later, something wrong with the transmission. After three months, this issue suddenly appears. I believe they likely damaged the transmission themselves. Regardless, they informed us the price was now going to be over $3,000.
Nearly another month passed before we got any more information. The total was now over $4,000. We paid, only to discover that Hopp's had damaged the car in various ways. The screen on the radio is now broken, the pneumatics for the hood no longer work, the air conditioner doesn't function and there's something dangling under the car. On top of all the damage they did, the clunking vibration, the issue that we took it in for in the first place, is unchanged. Hell, it might even be worse, actually.

I have been to many mechanics in my life but I have never met one that cares the way Mike does. He goes above and beyond and does things he's not required to do because it really matters to him that you're taken care of. Not only does he fix things right, he genuinely cares about people more than he does the bottom line. I will always continue to do business with him as long as he's in business. I wouldn't think of going anywhere else. He has helped me out more than I imagined anyone could.Highly recommend!

These guys are genuine about their service. I was a stranger working out of town kinda down on my luck. And was trying to get to Kansas for work. I had an issue with a part on my vehicle they charged me very fairly. I rarely see that type of sincerity to help people in a repair shop now. I highly recommend them. Their service is worth every penny and more. I wish you guys at Hop’s the best in the future. And thank y'all very much.

Alright, so picture this: I left sunny South Texas in mid-January, where it was a cozy 80 degrees, and rolled up to Borger, Texas, where it decided to turn into an Arctic wasteland at -6°F. No problem, right? I prepped for the cold like a responsible adult and had my coolant changed before leaving. Well, turns out the guy back home must’ve been measuring coolant mixtures with a blindfold on because my reservoir turned into a solid block of ice.
Cue the panic when my Tahoe started overheating in -6°F weather—which, let’s be honest, is some Twilight Zone-level nonsense. Checked under the hood, and yep, my coolant was now an ice sculpture. I called Hops Auto Repair after hours, expecting voicemail purgatory, but nope—the dude actually called me back. Huge plus.
Next morning, they towed my Tahoe to the shop, ran diagnostics, and called me with the verdict: my water pump busted from the freeze. Could’ve been worse—my engine block could’ve cracked, leaving me stranded in Borger forever. They drained my system, refilled it with the correct mix, swapped out my belts, and had my ride ready before I even got off work. Total damage? $999.36—honestly, a fair deal for a frozen Tahoe resurrection.
Now, let’s talk shop. The place? Could use an upgrade and some serious housekeeping. But let’s be real, I didn’t come for the feng shui—I came to get my truck fixed, and they delivered fast, at a fair price. The guys were friendly, no BS, straight to business. Oh, and the best part? The owner has a kick-ass Hot Wheels collection. That alone deserves a bonus star.
Would I recommend Hops Auto Repair? Absolutely. If you’re ever in Borger and your ride decides to betray you in subzero hell, these are the guys you want on speed dial.
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5 Stars – Because they saved my Tahoe from an ice block graveyard!)

I wouldn't trust this shop for any kind of significant work done to motors or transmissions. I heard bad things about it but gave em the benefit of the doubt and had them swap out a transmission for me. I got charged for labor and services only to get my car back running even worse than before the transmission was Swapped. The mechanic told me he didn't know what it was, tried to convince me the transmission I bought for it was bad, and didn't sound like he even bothered or cared to try to troubleshoot the issue.I took the car down the road to another shop, they figured out what was wrong with it that very same day. Turns out he installed the wiring harness incorrectly. Overall he charged me for incomplete/poor work, which cost me even more to get quality work else where while I was out of a ride for several weeks trying to find a solution to his mess up on my only vehicle. Save yourself the time and the money, take your vehicle elsewhere.Service: Transmission replacement
