Great sunset view, Gross rooms: Mid-Century Hospital Feel
If you’re looking to stay in a place with the aesthetics of an underfunded sanitarium hospital from the 1960s with filthy toilets then this is the place for you!
The toilet looks like it hasn’t had a cleaning brush in it for half a decade or more, because why bother?
It appears to have collected well water lime scale, mineral deposits, and possibly remnants of former guests in the bottom of the bowl.
When you’re not enjoying your respite on the toilet that makes a 5’11’’ man feel like a dwarf from its height and leaving you tiptoeing on the balls of your feet to have contact with the ground, you can take in the delaminating and soiled door, cracked flooring, beige wall tiles from the 1970s, stainless steel hospital wall appliances, and years of soap scum that has caked onto the walls of the shower.
1 out of 10 for room appeal.
The good news is that the staff says that the reception/restaurant building will be rebuilt and the rooms renovated.
Hopefully they don’t use a project manager who likes the feel and warmth of a hospital room to welcome you on your stays in a nice park.

Located right in the heart of the park, with quick access to food, gifts, trails, and general supplies. The rooms are a bit spartan, the lack of wifi I think is nearly unforgivable in this day and age as a life line to everything even simple hiking app and planning functionality but cell service worked well enough. We a
Stayed outside the camp for a couple of days, but the drives were taking up a lot of time, camped a night but they have no showers. I was told water is precious here. Well, not in the hotel it isn't so I need another reason. But the views and park itself makes up for just about everything. When we do it again it'll be at the lodge.

The room is standard. The location is the win! The park workers are all friendly and helpful.
I love the fact the lodge is so close to the trails and restaurant. The room has no WiFi. The best part is stargazing! We saw the milky way during our stay.

They advertise some of their cottages as "pet friendly." I reserved one and paid a deposit seven months in advance. The week of my trip, they told me they allowed dogs in the rooms while guests were there and didn't allow cats at all. This contradicts what's on the website, on the reservation receipts, and what they told me on the phone when I made the reservation. Great that there's a lodge in the park; kind of crappy if that lodge ruins people's vacations at the last minute.

Rooms: Basic but amazing views.
Nearby activities: Hiking, 4x4 roads, river canoeing or rafting
Walkability: Walk everywhere in the basin no problem. Hotel to restaurant to camp store to hikes you can walk to it all.
Noteworthy details: Amazing views

BEST LOCATION if you want to stay in the center of Big Bend. All employees were great - happy and helpful and great service. Rooms are clean and great views.

In the middle of the Chisos Mountains Basin, so spectacular views all around. A very old lodge that has not been updated. No daily maid service, but they will happily provide fresh towels or anything else when requested. All the staff were very cheerful and helpful. Bed springs were very old and squeaked loudly with the slightest movement. Our room constantly had lots of moths which enjoyed landing on our faces while trying to sleep.

It was a pretty good motel style lodge. The view out the balcony is decent (definitely depends on the room but you should still have a good view of the Chisos Mountains nonetheless) and you can watch for wildlife.
Nearby activities: Lots of hiking trails and the visitor center
Safety: The lodge is in a habitat for black bears and mountain lions.
Walkability: Right inside the Chisos Basin. The Visitor Center, Lodge Restaurant, Campstore, Window Vista, and Chisos Basin trailheads are just a small walk away.

No AC in the Cabins. Would not recommend a summertime stay in the Cabins. The generic description for the lodge does not mention this. You need to click on "More Information" to see the NO/AC... my bad. Hotel room single serve coffee trays. No "coffee pot". My opinion, pretty sparse for $235 a night.

We booked here for 2 nights during our motorcycle tour through the USA. The premises cannot hide their age, the substance is showing its age and it shows. You have to make a few compromises. We only had WiFi reception at the sales shop, which is located in the middle of the area. The ideal place for people who absolutely want to enjoy their peace and quiet and avoid contact with the outside world. A great location for hikers and nature seekers. Pure nature. Despite some personal compromises, it was a great experience. The sky at night is fantastic. Endless photo opportunities. You walk a few meters and you are in the middle of the wilderness. All in all, I don't want to miss these days. America already has some great national parks, Big Bend is absolutely one of them :-)

It is very nice and convenient to stay inside the park and be surrounded of beautiful mountains. There is plenty parking lot, grocery store, gift shop and nice restaurant walking distance. Restaurant offers good menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and very good cocktails from the bar. Rooms are small, 2 full beds, bathroom, and balcony. I would suggest to improve on cleanness of the room, carpet, drawer and sink need deep cleaning. We enjoyed our stay and took advantage of grocery store and restaurant, and close distance to good trails for hiking. We recommend and will come back again soon!

We've had much better service with front desk and restaurant staff in the past. Over the Memorial Day weekend, we were treated like we were burdens to people at the front desk. Food service was spotty, slow, and the taste of the food was mediocre. Rooms leave much to be desired, especially given the daily price.

Rooms: Rustic at best. The lodge is far better than the cabins.

The room was sufficient. It is in the middle of nowhere, so the proximity to the trails was second to none. The plumbing was quite horrible though, our shower was clogged and when we tried to unclog it things from months ago came up and it was still clogged. The cracks in the table were evidently not cleaned before we arrived, but the air conditioning worked great so that was a positive. The restaurant has a wonderful lunch menu and the food tasted fresh. Overall not terrible, but having a partially clogged sink, a clogged shower and a generally uncleaned room was not optimal.
Rooms: Rooms were unclean and the plumbing was suboptimal. The air conditioning worked great.
Walkability: The proximity to the trailheads was wonderful!
Food and drinks: The on site restaurant was better than we expected and the availability of the general store was expansive.
