Very remote, super quiet park. Only drawback is the vault toilets, but I can handle that. Tons of wildlife -- deer and armadillos everywhere. Excellent walk-in campsites on the tent only part.Restrooms: All vault toilets. Not a single flushable toilet to be found. No showers or sinks either. Well, there's a "rinse off shower" that is outside, but that's it.

A beautiful park. We could not get in since it was sold out and hiked through the sulfur springs camping ground

Always a joy to get out in Nature at Colorado Bend. My only recommendation is to make sure you have plenty of gas. The park may be a little bigger than you think. Driving from one trail head to the next and back to the campsite may take more gas than anticipated. The closest gas station from the park is like 30 miles away doing an average speed of maybe 45 mph. So, consider yourself at least 45 minutes to a gas station from the main parks office.Restrooms: Personally, I'd prefer going behind a tree instead of having to set foot into one of those "out houses" again. ??Picnic area: The picnic table at the camping spot was quite convenient and very helpful. It was a solid picnic table for sure! ?

I've been here several times and love it. Take plenty of water and snacks. The trails are very rocky and can get difficult. The only complaint I have is that the trails aren't marked well, and it's easy to get lost.Restrooms: Plenty of porta potties.Dog-friendliness: Bring plenty of water. If your dog is in good shape, he'll love it.Picnic area: There are several picnic tables around.

This place is amazing...Very rugged trails but worth the hike...We didn't have enough daylight to see everything but we did get to witness a beautiful waterfall "Gorman"We are definitely going back for an all day experience...

Great park that I have visited many times. My dog loves it. Easy 90-minute drive from metro Austin. It's probably best known for the falls, but it's a large park with a variety of different trails and diverse terrain. A few things to know:1. Very limited cell service.2. By mid/late summer, the river and falls can be virtually dry. Best viewed in winter and spring.3. In my experience, the booth at the entrance gate is usually closed. Entrance fees are required, and the Rangers office is a few miles. I usually book online and print the pass to put on my dash. There's an ostrich farm as you approach Bend just a few miles from the park. We always stop if the ostriches are hanging out. They seem just as interested in us!

Great State Park - well-maintained with tons of trails and places to camp. We reserved a backpacking site at the Windmill Backcountry area - a gorgeous place to camp. The sites down by the river looked great as well.

Great place for a hike. Unfortunately there just aren't enough camping opportunities due to the very limited number of spaces. Seems like a place with that many acres could use more camping spaces.

Loved Colorado Bend State Park, this is my 3rd time visiting; first time camping here. The park is well kept with plenty of restrooms and accessability. The trails are clean but maybe not for everyone as some parts of some of the trails have rocks poking out of the ground (not suitable for biking or wheelchair access.) A LOT of wild armadillos here and other wildlife. We saw 6 wild Bighorn Sheep in the park while we were there (extremely rare in Texas, but a true testament to the size and remoteness of the park as a whole.) Staff were very helpful and caring about making sure we had all the information we needed. Only negative is that most of this park does not have cell phone service (could be a plus, depending on what you're looking for)Restrooms: Restrooms are basic inside the park; toilets yes, running water no. There were sanitizer dispensers inside each restroom I've been to inside the park and some of the restrooms even had tile flooring!!! They use composting toilets which are great for the environment and help reduce runoff into the river

We hiked to Gorman Falls which you might not remember you're in Texas. Look this place up on YouTube and plan a trip. Tent camping would be fun here.
