First off I want to state that when I was very frustrated with a shelter it was not Bell County it was Temple Texas, Bell County actually called me today and asked me about a dog I had been trying to get out of Temple shelter the two officers that called me today were amazing they were sweet concerned and very helpful nothing that I have ever seen at the temple shelter.

So I find a puppy this morning (6-26-24) in the Belton cemetery on Main street. I bring it up to the Bell County Animal Shelter. And due to my forgetting my ID at home, they REFUSED to take this dog who was in need of Medical Care judging by its appearance. Also I believe wholeheartedly he purposely didn't take this dog because I had an attitude running late for a mental health appointment at the VA. Sorry for my attitude.
I was straight up told to rehome it myself, even after advising them that this is not my dog, not to mention my Akita will not allow another dog in her home.
Then just to find out the answer I was going to get, I told this gentleman behind the desk that I was just going to go drop it off where I found it. His response was good, go ahead. I did mention just physically looking at this dog you could see it's in need of some type of medical attention?? He blatantly disregarded the exact job he was hired to do. As if I'm going to lie as to who I am while dropping off a stray animal with no ID. I was thinking maybe he was trained by the marlin animal shelter idiots........
This incident would be like me being hurt, walking into a fire station and them telling me no ID no medical attention......no difference because both are extremely unprofessional.
Just wish they were BOTH hypothetical.

The people are so nice and friendly there I think it's just a really good thing to adopt an animal I don't understand why people just throw animals out in the street they don't have food or nowhere to go I'm just an animal lover

honestly wouldn’t recommend. i adopted a kitten from there not even a week ago, told me he was 11 weeks old. i don’t know if they’ve ever seen a kitten that old because this baby was maybe 6 weeks, weighed .32kg and was very sick. there’s no way they didn’t know something was wrong with him, we got very attached and tried helping him become a normal kitten but it was too late and we had to put him down. needs to start actually taking care of their animals.

I volunteer here and they have a great operation. They seem to take great care of the animals until they can be reclaimed or adopted. They have so many cats, kittens, puppies and dogs looking for their forever homes.
