They really don't care about first impressions. I to took my 2 cats there having moved here recently, I needed a local doctor. I had called and asked pricing and set my appointment. I was told it was going to be $52.65 per cat (not sure the exact amount of change). I was warned of a charge for appointments cancelled after 3 hrs. prior to the appointment. I showed up on time with my cats that don't enjoy car ride in tow. This is when I found out that it was going to cost $375 instead of what I had understood as per our previous conversation. I could not afford that, therefore my cats and I had to go. 3 days later I received a call asking how my cats were doing. They didn't even touch my cats or even look at their cuteness at all. I have a bill for $96 now. The receptionist explained that it was because the doctor could have utilized my appointment time for someone else. Neat. I could have used my time and not have the cats go through the confusion if I would have been told the actual price, not the get you in the door price. I mostly found it rude that one's time is not important to them. The doctor's time is, just not the patients time. The doctor is probably a lovely person, but I didn't get the chance to find out.

On 8-18-24 My 15.5 yr old fur baby "Purdie Girl" was so very sick, I thought she was going to have to be put to rest, I walked into their office totally devastated, I was in complete breakdown mode and sobbing my eyes out, I thought she had a stroke, I was in the process of barbecuing dinner, and my friend said hey you need to look at "Purdie" so I looked at her and she started having seizure like activity, I of course being a full-blown fur baby Mama went into complete panic mode, I stayed up all night holding her, I didn't even eat the dinner I made, I held her all night as her eyes kept rolling, and her body was like wet noodle, she couldn't walk she couldn't even hold of her head, everything she did was leaning to the right, she was completely limp, as soon as they opened, they were willing to let me take her in, they were so kind and comforting to both her and I, they did a quick examination, and put me in total peace after they told me that she only had an inner ear infection. I am so grateful that I did not have to put my fur baby to rest, I cannot spread enough word of gratitude for Bandera Veterinary Clinic PC. I cannot say thank you enough, they didn't rush to put her to rest, and now here we are three days later 8-21-24 and she's doing better on antibiotics. So I just want to say thank you all for saving my fur baby. She means everything to me. I know she has a few more yrs to bless this world with her beautiful presence ?. Thank you all so very much for y'all's help keeping this fur n feathery family as a unit.
With love.
"Purdie Girl" -fur pup
"Rhea Sunshine" -fur pup
"Poetic Justice" -fur pup

Just had the pleasure of seeing Dr. Richardson for my Pitbull’s injured nail/paw. He was very welcoming and obviously cared about my dog even though it was our first time. Rex is good to go now after the best Vet experience we’ve ever had. It’s comforting knowing that Dr. Richardson and his team are in Bandera!

About a year & 1/2 ago I was told my dog would be dead in 2-3 weeks, “at most if we were lucky”, due to deteriorating kidney function & the vet wanted to (kill) put her down….($ in their pocket). I refused, took her home, performed my due diligence online & concluded an adjustment in her nutritional intake was necessary. This was almost 2 years ago. She is almost 16 years old now & although she has lived a long, happy life, all the normal things are occurring such as going blind in one eye & now she’s basically stopped eating & drinking & sleeps most of the time. I want to make clear that I understand the premises of euthanizing when the animal is suffering. With that being said, after my mother & son took her in & they administered oxygen, our dog actually got up, walked around & even peed! All this just from the oxygen treatment. The vet offered an overnight stay & administration of a shot for some other diagnosis. My mother agreed. She received a call shortly after leaving that our dog was not responding & breathing had become a concern. Mind you, no food was offered…just medicines. My mother returned & of course they’re recommending to put her down (again, $ in their pocket). I called in to discuss with them the scenario & they refused to divulge info to me…despite me knowing all her history to include the last visit which I paid for!!! My dog is dying & they revert to some ridiculous in house policy: I’m not on her file (why not is beyond me). This begs the question: What exactly would one do with the information I am asking for IF the intent was nefarious in nature??!!??!!?? Does that even pertain to this situation??? No. It does not. This simply adds insult to injury. I’m already suffering. MY DOG IS DYING!!! These people need to reconsider this ‘policy’ & consider the situation on a case by case scenario vs. being an all inclusive refusal to divulge information. I wasn’t asking for addresses, payment information or any pertinent information. How on earth can they even begin to rationalize this?!? I had already confirmed information to include our last visit ie: their recommendations regarding her supposed kidney failure & me refusing euthanasia, along with what transpired with her current visit. All of this to no avail & evidently received with ZERO COMPASSION OR UNDERSTANDING!!! Thank you for allowing me opportunity to, ONCE AGAIN, DECLINE YOUR ADVICE TO LET YOU KILL MY DOG. Congratulations….thi$ time…you win. ?. For me….perhaps legalities are in order as I DID NOT AGREE WITH YOUR RECOMMENDATIONS LAST TIME , & my dog LIVED… but this time YOU REFUSED ME OPPORTUNITY… & my dog is killed.
ps…this is my sons Google account. My phone is out of commission but I NEED to get this off my chest. MY google info is December Ginala…

I have six dogs and every time I’m at Bandera Vet Clinic I have a wonderful experience. The staff is wonderful. They get to know you and seem to really care. Whether I’m in there for routine check ups or emergency situations Dr Howell is absolutely wonderful! I can’t say enough good things about her. She takes care of my dogs like they are her own and that’s you want from a vet! The staff is friendly, patient, accommodating when they can be, knowledgeable. I’m so glad we switched vets three years ago and we have NO intentions of leaving! Thank you Bandera Vet Clinic for all you do!

Second time here. We were in Bandera for the winter and away from our vet. They had to give vaccinations and soon I scheduled a teeth cleaning. They did a wonderful job.
