A very nice getaway from the big booming downtown of Austin... but also has great views of downtown and is only a short bike ride away. It is close to some major highways so it's not full quiet but still feels very serene.A very nice variety of plants and settings with some nice water features. I was there in late January so definitely not the blooming season but still very lovely. My only complaint is that they don't allow the city e-bike rentals in the property (also didn't see ANY bike racks anywhere... which is certainly a choice) but there is an e-bike station less than a mile away.Regardless of that I still would like to go back if I make another trip to Austin outside of winter. If I lived there I would definitely be a regular visitor.

Pathetic, disgusting and dangerous. That pretty much sums up the brief displeasure that was my experience at Zilker Botanic Garden. Luckily I picked a free admission day because it would be insulting to pay $8 for entry to this dumpster. It’s late February and while every other botanic garden in Texas has managed to find something to display, Zilker just has dirt and rot. Sidewalks and railing are crumbling there’s barely any signage and the map is a joke. You have to walk into traffic to even get in and the goons running the parking just shrug at you. The website has no useful directions either. It’s so bad it almost feels intentional like someone is trying to get this place shut down so they can bulldoze it. I had high hopes for this place but this is not an enjoyable place to spend time. I spent less than 20 minutes.

Granted we visited during the colder season, most plants and shrubs are trimmed down to promote growth for the summer/spring. We knew that going in, but the upkeep seemed as if it wasn’t a priority. Dirty water in the Japanese portion, weeds overtaking certain areas and some debris that wasn’t removed. That’s the only downside i had to this botanical garden. Other than that, there are some great views and trails that offer a great peace of mind. This garden has the potential to look insanely beautiful! Maybe it was a bad day, but I’ll definitely come back in the warmer seasons

A visit here during any season will lift the spirits & inspire. The grounds are well spread out, easily navigated & well manicured. You can find many different species of plants & the staff is helpful with any questions.I recommend you bring cash for parking & entry, allot of water, a picnic lunch and a throw blanket for set up under a shady tree. Don't forget your good camera, there are so many amazing photo nooks.perfect for friends, family & tourists.

Although we visited during the winter months the Garden was still very nice and quite relaxing. The Japanese garden was very peaceful with walks that take you around and through the ponds. It was neat to see the Koi swimming at your feet as you walked over stepping stones. The prehistoric garden had casts of dinosaur footprints that were found while the garden was being built. There are several different gardens to visit as you walk through-all unique and all very nice. A great place to spend a few hours.

If you’ve ever been to a botanical garden in a large, well—funded city. You will understand my review of this place. I thought this botanical garden was a joke. It all felt like a carved trail of weeds and junk. The gardened areas were full of overgrown weeds, the exhibit areas were not worth a slow down in your stride. The koi pond was small. Most botanical gardens have food dispensers where you can feed the Koi pond. But I understand why they don’t have that here. They only have five fish. I couldn’t figure out when I ever made it to the Japanese Gardens because I saw nothing Japanese other than the Koi fish. It was an absolute dump honestly.

Even though it was January, there was still beauty everywhere. I especially liked the Japanese gardens.

Cool place. Lots of walkways and things to look at. Lots of arches too for cute pictures. The fish here are pretty chill and the place is pretty well kept. The best part? Unlike its competition, the tickets here were fairly priced for all that you get to see and how expansive the land is.

I spent a nice afternoon here with some friends, for it being November it was a bit raggedy. Other than the butterfly garden, which was full of gorgeous butterflies. Mind you after the summer TX had, I imagine keeping plants alive - that aren't native - was a bit difficult. The rest is a bit unkempt and disappointing. The only manicured section is the rose garden but was being set-up for an event so it was strange trying to get any group images with staff setting up for the night. Also I say rose garden but that is being generous. Very few roses, very little structure or design. The latter being applicable across the board.

This is without a doubt one of my doga’ favorite places in Austin. It has paved paths (in case it’s muddy) and dirt paths, if they’re in the mood to smell all the nature smells. It’s a beautiful park, with lots of different terrain and views. I love the prehistoric portion of the park, with its double waterfall. Also, check out the cool view of Austin through the trees on the left side of the visitor center building. If you buy a membership, you save money, and get notifications of all the cool events, including the dog – centered ones!
