Reached out to German Auto, who recommended Ken.Called on a Wednesday, scheduled for Thursday, picked it up on Friday, just in time for a road trip.Car drives nice and smooth like it’s supposed to, and for a great price. “I want to share my experience in a constructive way, because I believe businesses grow through honest feedback. While my first impression wasn’t ideal, I’m not leaving a low star rating as everyone has opportunities to learn, and I hope this review serves that purpose.
I stopped by yesterday a little after noon. I knew the shop was close to closing, and since I was already driving by, I came in briefly to make an appointment to have a failing motor mount replaced. As a woman, I’m aware that it can sometimes be difficult to be taken seriously in automotive environments, so I made an effort to explain the issue clearly and directly to minimize unnecessary back-and-forth. Here’s how the conversation went:
Andrew: “What seems to be the problem today?”
Me: “I was driving by and know you’re closing soon. I just wanted to schedule an appointment—my right-side engine mount is collapsed. The car vibrates in Park, Neutral, and Reverse but stops in Drive.”
Andrew: “Why do you think it’s the engine mount?”
Me: “Because I saw it with my own eyes.”
Andrew: “So either you’re a mechanic or you know a mechanic— which one is it?”
I’ll leave the rest of the interaction out, as it isn’t necessary for the point I want to make. What is important is that comments like this can come across as dismissive and condescending, especially toward women who are often already fighting to be taken seriously when discussing their own vehicles.
I’m sharing this because respect should be the foundation of any customer interaction regardless of gender. Please take this as an opportunity for coaching. Women are fully capable of understanding vehicle issues, and we deserve the same level of professionalism and courtesy as any other customer.
I do hope my next experience is more reflective of the standards I know many shops strive to uphold.”
“I went to have a slow leak repaired and the tire put back on my car. They found no leak and removed temporary then replace the full size tire and did not charge me. WOW Amazing service! The inside was so clean that my tennis shoes squeaked when I walked.”

“I can’t say enough great things about this Discount Tire location! I had an issue with another store where I purchased a new tire, but they replaced an already new tire, leaving me still with only one new tire ??♂️. When I brought it to their attention, Ty and Cody went above and beyond to make things right.
I initially went in only for a wheel alignment (for my two new tires, or so i thought lol)—which is a rare service for Discount Tire locations in Austin. This is one of the few locations in the area that offers wheel alignments.
Their customer service was top-notch, and they truly went the extra mile to take care of me. This will absolutely be my go-to tire shop from now on. If you’re looking for honest, high-quality service, this is the place to go. Thanks again, Ty and Cody!”

“Discount Tire is my go-to place for all things tires. They are consistently reliable. However, they did not quite make the projected completion time by about 5 minutes. They forgot to reset my low air pressure indicator after filling the tires with air, and they forgot again a few days later after I let them know when I returned to purchase tires. So, my indicator is still on.”
“This place saved the day! I was shopping at ACR right across the street, and when I came back to my car, I noticed my back left tire was totally flat. Filled with dread, I figured I would have to leave my truck bed full of art supplies in the lot overnight, take an uber home, and maybe tow my truck somewhere the next day?! I was SO lucky to realize that A-1 was close enough for me to slowly roll over to, right before closing time.When I got there, they were gracious, helpful, and friendly, and even stayed open a little late to patch my tire. (Actually, TWO tires - they noticed that I had picked up nails/screws in the front right as well.) It only took a few minutes and it was about $35 - a great value, and SUCH a relief compared to my worst case scenario. I am forever grateful!”

Blown tire -
Straightforward prices, straightforward salt of the earth people. These guys have been amazing. As a 5 foot tall woman I always worry that I’m going to be taking advantage of, but I can assure you that I felt completely taken care of and welcomed. I called about 10-15 tire shops, including the big name brands, and no one has a price that is going to be similar to the shop. Prices were straightforward. Nothing hidden. I felt so taken care of that I also got my tire patched and brought it back to get it balanced all within the same hour of getting the replacement tire when mine blew out I will only be coming here now!
Car wouldn’t start -
After they fixed my blow tire and patched another one of my tires, which by the way was always within 15 or for 20 minutes, I went to go start my car to leave and my car wouldn’t start. They brought out a battery to try to jump it that didn’t work. MC brought his truck over to jump it using his truck and that didn’t work. He called a mechanic and the mechanic came over within 30 minutes. He took a look and found out that my starter wasn’t working and said that if I could go get the part, he would fix it right then and there. At this point it’s almost 2 PM. It takes a while to remove a starter because you need to bring it into the store as part of their core. He was able to do it within an hour. I brought back the part and he got me out of there by 4 PM. They were the kindest made sure that I was safe and taken care of.”
