This is my favorite Petco in the Austin area for Betta fish - this particular store has some of the most unique and beautiful Bettas I have ever seen (and I perused many of the petcos, petsmarts, and other aquatic stores around here before deciding which bettas to buy). I currently own two from this store. They've been with me for ~half a year so far and are so healthy and vibrant! Highly recommend checking them out if you're looking to start a Betta tank! The staff there is so helpful and my toddler and I especially love Miss Stephanie at checkout who is always smiling and ready to chat!

Zach and the whole team was awesome and friendly. The store was clean, beautifully merchandised. The people here obviously had good teamwork and liked working here. I hope the company treats them well. They recommended some dog food for my dog with severe allergies and even got us samples and coupons! Today was the best experience at a pet store ever and we've got 4 cats and a dog so we go to pet stores pretty often! Keep up the good work!

I enjoyed my first visit for my cat. Then I had a new vet which is fine. I looked at my medical records for the second visit and they gave her hook/round worm dewormer instead of tapeworm dewormer. My cat still has tapeworm since May. And it’s now august. It was hard for the vet assistant to look up my past medical records even though it was at the same medical office.

I went in for Vaccination for my cat. The head veterinarian refused to take my pet because she hissed and she didn’t want to come out. I told them she was just a scared cat and not aggressive. I offered to put a full body escape proof vest and leash, as well as a large cone, she still denied me, and was a bit rude. Seemed like she was having a bad day or something. She said it was bc she her nails and the fact she could escape which did not make sense to me. They had full arm covers for this and decided to not use. This was very irritating considering there was no information stating they will refuse cats that don’t want to come out of their kennel. Head veterinary should be used to this. Dealing with cats and dogs is their job. A leash, vest and large cone on a tiny 1 year old cat should have been so able. I needed this vaccine urgently. I will not be going back. I recommend this kind of information & concern be added to your site and noted before booking appointments for your future patients!

They were so good with my nervous dog. They were caring and patient. A great check-up experience.

Run. The vets here don’t listen to pet owners concerns. They speak in circles without answering the questions. They also require 6 month wellness exams instead of annual exams in order for them to prescribe flea medication AND they told me my cats rabies vaccine was expired when it wasn’t - probably just to get more money out of me. Make sure you request and keep all your vet and vax paperwork!!! This place was so much better when it was THRIVE

Re: AquaticsI knew nothing about fish and aquariums. My neighbors asked me to fish sit for five weeks, so I freaked out when their panda Cory catfish died after one week. I bought three new replacement panda Cory catfish, which comes with a thirty day guarantee. Petco refunded one panda Cory catfish that died with proof of body. Brooke, the manager from Australia, has twenty years of experience in aquatics. She spent an entire hour teaching me how to dump one gallon of water from the tank and replace it so that the nitrate and ammonia levels would lower. Petco will test your sample water for free! The next afternoon, I brought in a two quart sample of water for her to test. It tested on the higher safe side of nitrates and ammonia. Brooke said I was overfeeding the fish and told me to stop feeding the betta vacation feeder and to only feed one scoop of Betta food every other day, not daily. She also taught me to only dump out 20% of the tank's water, how to siphon water through a gravel vacuum into a bucket, wait for the gunk to settle at the bottom of the bucket, and then scoop a couple cups of water back into the tank to keep the microbiome. The fish don't look lethargic anymore from ammonia poisoning. She also taught me to buy a moss ball, which will lower the nitrate levels in the tank. Thank you, Brooke!

Kailana's visit went well and we were able to get medications for her eyes and skin allergy.

Have come here for years since it was thrive. Last visit was pretty unpleasant, lady that came in (not sure if the vet) seemed to have an attitude and told me they can't see him unless he has been sedated because he has anxiety. They wanted to give him something like 16 pills before his visit, we had just brought him to another vet for a consultation to get his teeth cleaned and he did totally fine and didn't even need a muzzle because the vet took time to pet and calm our dog. Will not be returning, just got a bad vibe from the lady that was there and don't trust her with my dog unfortunately.

My pup gets really nervous any time we visit the Vet’s office! the Vet was very patient with him, sat on the floor with him and waited patiently for him to relax. the Technician was great and so was the main desk staff. They took my pup in last minute here at the great hills location after the location in Brodie cancelled my appointment because i did not confirm via email a new system they have, after showing up with a medicated Pup, they still wouldn’t take my pup, Thanks again Vetco at Great Hills.

My roommate and I got a 2 cats and she registered both when we first got them. She put me on the account as well. The 2nd cat (that was mine) never went there. I tried making an appointment for my cat to get his shots and they sent me to a different location and never notified me and nor gave me information of the actual location when I asked. I made a second appointment and apparently they went off my cats name?? Said that the appointment was made and would contact me after asking for all of my info. I found out that my old roommate got the texts and didn't know what it was for. I called twice to confirm my appointment and the second time I called, they said my roommate had to call and transfer MY cat to me. Then today I called again and they said they canceled and gave my appointment to someone else. THIS STAFF IS NOT HELPFUL!

Very kind staff! I had a later appointment, but I was able to walk in with questions about a situation with my new puppy. As a new dog owner, I appreciate them so much. They were kind enough to answer all questions and take us in as an emergency walk-in, all while remaining patient, caring, and delivered great service and customer care. If you’re a pet owner, the vital care subscription is worth it, it pays for itself!! It has in our visits at least!

HORRIBLE place and HORRIBLE staff DONT EVEN STEP AT THAT VET CLINIC. I WOULD GIVE 0 STARS. I was late for an appointment because my dog was sick and the one who booked the visit NEVER gave any timeframe. When I arrived they said that I was late that they couldn’t take my pet… ALL STAFF WAS MEAN. NORTH HILLS VETCO IS THE WORSE PLACE FOR YOUR PET, THATS EVIL PLACE!!! A friend of mine used to go to that place and her pet was mistreated but I didn’t know about it, till after telling her what happened to me at that place.

This place is horrible. I was a few minutes late and the girl (Brittany) at the front desk here at the Great Hills office said I had to reschedule. 4 mins late. I did tell her that it was only 4 mins and asked her if she was willing to lose a sale for 4 minutes.she just smiled at me and said she didn't care. DO NOT GO HERE.

This is a review of the GROOMING services. TLDR: Steer clear to avoid traumatizing your pup! Now let me preface this by saying I've been a longtime Petco Grooming customer. I recently moved and have taken my dog to the Northwest Austin Grooming Salon twice now.My dog loves going to the groomer and has always been fine, he's been to at least half a dozen different groomers over the years with no issues. However, he has come back extremely traumatized both times I've taken him to the Northwest Austin location. I believe there needs to be some oversight into what is happening there. I suspect they are not following the proper procedures and it is distressing to the dogs. They were also running late, but honestly, that wouldn't have bothered me if my pup had been properly cared for. I now wish I had checked the other reviews before booking this! I expected better oversight from a chain like Petco. The first time I took him there he was up all night distressed, crying, and throwing up. I thought maybe it was a fluke. But the next time he was up all night crying again and even began ripping out his own fur. Again, we've been to multiple Petco Grooming salons over the years and he has NEVER had a bad experience until now. I contacted Petco Corporate customer support. They along with the local manager(s) need to seriously look into what is happening at this store.
