They make a lot of gas powered pollution and noise for neighbors early in the morning.The soil is likely toxic as well, is on the city brownfield warning list as a former toxic landfill.

A wonderful opportunity to get outdoors with the community and do some good helping out around the farm. Amazing staff, inspiring mission, an overall unique and memorable experience.

Just got to spend a chilly morning volunteering here with some coworkers. We harvested some arugula, helped put out row covers in advance of a freeze, and helped protect their squash crops. It was a privilege to help out a non-profit that does so much good for the community.

Urban Roots works with youth leaders to grow fresh food and build a community dedicated to achieving food equity. Based on urban farms in East and South Austin, we dedicate at least 75% of what we grow to improve food access and equity in Central Texas. Through paid internships, youth focus not just on farming, but also on their growth as leaders and understanding how they can help create a better food system for us all.
