My husband booked us here for a weekend in town for a UT game. Location is great, it’s walkable from the stadium and other restaurants and restaurants within this place are good. I would say the best thing about this hotel are these things, but that is it.Rooms are TINY, I hated the room set up with a very awkward industrial style vanity located outside of the bathroom. This set up was also really weird and doesn’t allow women to get ready properly. It’s just really weird. The other thing is that there is a small room with the shower and toilet together with a glass wall surrounding it which could be super uncomfortable for guests staying together without a spouse. It just grossed me out taking a shower with a toilet next to it.The other issue is that this location is where very loud and busy nightlife is. I didn’t sleep more than 2 hours total because the music and noise outside was so obnoxious, which wasn’t great for being pregnant. They actually provide you ear plugs which I learned were absolutely needed in order to get any sleep.Another thing I hated - on the 4th floor next to the restaurant was joint restroom for both men and women. I’m sorry but this is just weird (and dangerous). Maybe it’s an Austin thing to have both men and women share a bathroom space, but I was so uncomfortable walking in to see a man washing his hands. Not for me.It was a very classy place as far as service and ambiance of common areas go, but I wouldn’t stay here again because of the room set up and weekend noise.

Rooms are tiny and cramped.Toilet is inside the shower.Coffee machine in room is awful.Very bad insulation / sound proofing because you can hear the loud music from the bars, clubs, and venues till 11 PM / midnight or later. For Hyatt Globalists I wish they allowed you get grab-and-go from the coffee bar int he lobby.A better choice is to stay at the other hotel that is in the same building "The Thompson" for a better experience.

Located right in the sixth Street, a great location for people on vacation. So many restaurants and pubs right downstairs.Valet service available for cars, paid though. The room was small, the bathroom had no hooks or bars to hang towels or clothes, the body wash and shampoo was in a small stand on the bathroom floor (see the images).Clean and elegant otherwise

We didn't mind the tiny room, though it was a bit awkward using the toilet when it's basically just in a shower stall (so everything is audible...)But speaking of sound, there seemed to be no soundproofing for the door because we were right near the elevators and so could hear every single drunk group on our floor. The light switches were also poorly designed. There was no switch for just the bathroom part, so if you had to go to the bathroom in the middle of the night, you had to turn on the light by the door too. And with such a small room, your partner is going to see it.Basically, it was alright but kind of poorly designed. But for the price we paid, I expected "great" not just "alright".

I'm fine with the toilet being in the shower but the rooms are so small that you can hardly walk to the other side of the bed. There's not even room to put a second overnight bag anywhere...literally. I've had this "European" experience hotel space all over the world and this was the most uncomfortable in terms of cost vs experience. For the price, I expected WAY MORE than what we got. Unacceptable. The staff is very, very friendly and helpful and amenities are fine but, again, high extra costs. We're here for a wedding and other hotels were sold out so usually wouldn't bring a kid to a hotel like this. That said, it's absolutely not kid friendly - asked to have a crib brought to the room but when it was delivered, we realized there was literally nowhere in the room where it would fit so we let our kid sleep in the bed with us. It was a very long 48 hour stay. Never again.

Very clean, and very customer oriented staff. The Tommie side of the building was a bit too modern for me with tiny room space and the toilet in the shower. But very comfortable bed and helpful staff.

I hope this saves someone hassle and money. They have literally shrunk all of the livable space out of these rooms, and all that's left is a bed for you to cry yourself to sleep. The rooms are so small that there is no place to put your luggage without bumping into it. No table, drawers, counter space, nothing. There is no bathroom. There is a glass shower with a toilet in it. Turning the light on to go to the bathroom at night lights up the whole room. The sink is out in the room right next to the bed. The coffee station, or rather, the water kettle, is on a tray on the bed and you have to put it on the floor to sleep. My wife and I cannot get over how small and impractical this room is. If we weren't with a group we'd change hotels. It's fine for one person.

Micheal at the 4th floor bar was beyond hospitable and knowledgeable he repeatedly took care of our extensive drink requests and was able to give as good as he gets. The exact type of mixologist you would want behind the bar. Made the whole experience top notch!

Austin is an unusual town, and this hotel was a perfect extension of that theme. Two hotels in one "Tommie" and "Thomas", with creative design and artwork all over the place. Needs to be experienced to be believed. There are really cool Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner restaurants right on site, and an awesome rooftop pool available as well.

$55 overnight valet parking seemed a bit high, but it's downtown, so oh well. But the $35 surprise "destination fee" upon checkout is just slimy business practice by Hyatt. Watch out for this charge if you go to reserve a room here. Sometimes resorts have destination fees, but this hotel is not a resort; it's a hotel in the middle of down town Austin. The rooms are incredibly small and cramped, with a sink in the middle so that there is no way to get up to use the restroom, and then wash your hands without waking up your partner. There is a large mirror that gives you a perfectly framed view anyone sitting on the toilet from the bed. The bed was comfortable though. There is a small cooling drawer that doesn't get your food or drinks cold enough. And overall, there is very little storage. It would not be a comfortable room for two people staying more than a night. For the price, the tiny room was surprisingly... well super tiny. It is located right next to the loud sixth street bars, so the hotel provides complimentary ear plugs. Never seen that before. And this location also made it a bit more challenging to get in and out at night when 6th is closed off.

The hotel is hybrid, sharing an elevator bank and a lobby with the Thompson, but the "branded" entrance to Tommie is a small door to the side of the main entrance for the Thompson. Probably not intentional, but it does give "lesser than" vibes, especially since the Tommie's door leads into the coffee shop. The rooms have all the essentials for a one-night stay, but are much smaller than they appear on the hotel's web site. The hotel made some interesting design choices to keep the floor space to a minimum, including making the space around the sink in the bedroom do double duty as a desk. Not a lot of storage space either, making the room suitable for very short stays only (1 or 2 nights top). On the other hand, the shower was very large relative to the rest of the room. Drapes kept the light out very effectively and the bed was very comfortable. I'm a fan of Thompson Hotels and I picked the Tommie by curiosity to see the difference. Overall, I'd say Tommie is an option if arriving late and leaving early, and not planning to unpack more than what is needed for a one night's rest.

Traveled to Austin for a birthday celebration with friends. We are welcomed by a great staff. Hotel, restaurant and pools area were beautiful and very clean. The hotel was in a great location for walking to some amazing local restaurants.

This is the smallest hotel room I have ever been inside. The toilet is literally in the shower. It's so small the sink is next to the bed. The shower is also about 1ft from the bed. There is no desk to work on. There isn't even a spot to put my lugage. It will have to block the walkway. See photos.
