Thrift Town, not Vintage Town....

My sister and I both went out exploring thrift stores in the Austin area and came across Thrift Town. The store is of average size for a thrift store so they have a good variety of merchandise.
Both my sister and I felt like pricing wasn't as competitive as some of the other thrift stores we explored so we didn't find much that day.

Used to be my go to for a long long time before the remodel this year. Crazy that blank crewneck sweaters and t shirts range anywhere from 17.99-24.99. Not everything vintage is worth that price, and they are treating it like every vintage piece is. With these prices you are better off shopping online.. eBay and depop top this place easily. Don’t waste your time. The gems are long gone.

Have come here for years and absolutely loved it, now it's literally god awful. Waste of time, waste of gas, just go to a goodwill at this point. Honestly sad to see what its turned into /:

Half my costumes and wardrobe come from this place. Pay attention to the colored tags for sale dates. Good stuff for great price. Not goodwill rip off

I miss the old lay out, each time I have gone recently I always say that. I love looking at clothing, but the home decor/kitchenware section was always my favorite. There use to be a large selection of seasonal decor, Knick-knack's, children’s toys, bedding etc…It’s all about the clothes now, which don’t event get me started on how little children’s clothes they have (especially little boys). The layout for ALL of the clothes use to be simple and enjoyable. Now all items are over priced items, less of, or a scattered mess. This place use to be my favorite because it was the first thrift store I went to as a child. Even though this place has lost its charm, I will shop here from time to time with hope that one day it’ll be converted back to how it use to be set up.

Thrift Town used to be my favorite thrift store, but unfortunately I think I've made my last visit. This place used to be so well organized by style, size, color - it made it so easy to look through. I actually spent more time and money because it was an easy and enjoyable experience. Now the racks are barely organized, have no labels, and are so packed full you can't even sort through them (not the mention the increase in poor quality and way outdated clothing). The new layout is also extremely disjointed, making it that much more overwhelming and frustrating to shop here.
And as others have mentioned, the new "vintage" section is laughable. Not only are the items way overpriced but they have separate color tags that don't seem to be part of the weekly color deals.
Sad to see that this place has absolutely lost all of its charm. Instead of playing into all the great things that set them apart, they replaced them with disorganization and higher prices. It now looks and feels like they are just waiting for Goodwill to buy them out. A great example that updates are not always upgrades.

There are still some gems if you really search; but since the update it’s got probably 3x as much clothing as before. Clothing an employee told me has been trucked in from other locations - Florida, Mexico - which has entirely changed the selection. It no longer seems like south Austinites are the ones who donated, which is a bummer bc it used to be such a fun thrift. Also, prices now higher, without matching brand labels or vintage status (vintage rack had shirts from ‘19.)

I've been here many times but my recent visit was shocking. The prices are ridiculously high for a thrift shop. They have a "vintage rack" of $17 t-shirts. You'll find modern Nirvana t-shirts worth $4 for $17.
Thrift Town is no longer thrifty and feels like a Goodwill now. ?

The store has changed so much for the worse, the prices have skyrocketed and the employees are very rude (especially Mari). Ive been coming here for 27 years and I’ll never be back

Wow! I was SO impressed with every aspect of this store. I thrift A LOT and the workers here were THE kindest workers I've EVER encountered. Every single one of them greeted every single customer. They didn't yell and scream at people nicely looking through the carts to fill the shelves. The store was SO clean and organized. I've been to the thrift town in SA and it was my absolute favorite! I was scared this one wouldn't love up to my expectations but it surpassed them! I live about 45 mins away but will definitely be making the trek up here. Worth it just for the great customer service, that's SO rare now. Made my day! I will say the movie and book section is very small just Incase anyone is coming just for that!

This place used to be a gem. All sorts of eras, organized by clothing type and color! Now it’s just another Goodwill-type thrift. They changed it all up. Crossing it off the list.

This has been my number one go to thrift store and it helped me teach my young daughter, how we can get an entire outfit of used clothes for the cost of a single pair of jeans at retail prices! 75% of my daily wear was likely purchased there!
