I believe that there are Michele really knows her stuff, and when I was able to work directly with her, I always felt comfortable with her advice, however she did not have the bandwidth to work with me directly. The person assigned to me was incompetent. She gave me gave me incorrect information about the proper channel for handling a situation when another party incorrectly claimed our child on their taxes. She failed to provide requested guidance on how to maximize healthcare deductions. She also failed to file the proper extensions. This resulted in thousands of dollars in lost deductions, late fees, and interest.

This firm has handled my mom's tax returns, including the final after her passing. Michele and her entire team have been very responsive, professional and timely with communications and documentation. Love their "easy to use" website. Their service has been exceptional! I have used Sweeten for 9 years. That's a pretty good stretch of time to get a feel for the company. We found several mistakes in our 2017 return. Eventually the return was fixed, but we did have to file for an extension. Yet what really bothered my wife and I was the owner. I had called her to fill her in as to what was going on and wanted her attention to the problems. We never heard from her, other than an impersonal email explaining the return was now correct. No customer service from the owner.

Their CPA I worked with, Andrew, was great when it comes to the accounting and tax principals. The support staff and administrative burden from working with Sweeten were so bad we had to part ways. Their invoicing system is super outdated (imagine a system from 2001) and their process was ridiculous. They invoiced me for work they did five months prior to issuing the invoice. (I didn't remember the phone call they billed me for five months ago.) I expect way more professionalism from a CPA company, especially when it comes to invoicing... which they should be experts at because their entire business is dealing with finances!! Super frustrating experience dealing with 5+ different team members on simple matters. I felt like I was the vendor and they were my client because there was so much babysitting.. but I was paying them. They've got a lot of work to do.

I called six weeks ago to set an appointment with one of their CPAs. The only time I got a call back was a week after my initial call asking me to put a credit card on file with them so when one of their CPAs finally got around to calling me or making an appointment, they'd have a way to charge me (sure, okay.) Well, they never bothered to reach out after that. I guess I'll call a different firm that has the capacity to take on a new client. What a waste of time.
