Store has few hard to find bottles and prices are jacked up. But it does have some super exceptional stuff like this Russell 13 I found here. Staff was helpful. Try your luck here if you are looking for something rare.

Who would have thought that a little liquor store in Lakeway would have such a great bourbon selection? Weller? Blantons? Hard to find bourbons make this place a gem. Their bourbon wall rivals Total Wines'. Call ahead, since not all bourbons available all the time. Good people. Great bourbon.

I live in Lakeway and have been in the Lakeway area of Monarch Liquor several times. I thought them to be expensive but today really got my attention. A few days ago i bought two one liter bottles of Buffalo Trace Bourbon as gifts for friends at specs in BeeCave. I paid $34.99 for a liter. Today i was near home and near Monarch Liquor so i stopped to get another Liter of Buffalo Trace for friends we are visiting tomorrow. Monarch price for a Liter of Buffalo Trace was $49.99. Every time i been in Monarch it is difficult to communicate since they appear to be of Indian descent and barely speak English. I asked the cashier if he madea mistake on the price and he said No. Price was correct. i informed him that same bottle at Twin Liquors or Specs was $34.99. He said they were a small family store and that was the price. I don't mind paying a little more for neighborhood stores but a 45% price diff is highway robbery. just beware. Monarch liquor is marking up 45% on most of their liquors. If you ok with that have at it. But i won't step back in that store. i feel violated in addition to being overcharged

The guy that works there speaks zero English. It was impossible to get him to understand 25% off clearance prices.

Terrible liquor and wine selection, worse customer service. Everything is several dollars more expensive than major chains. Just go to the Twin Liquors 5 minutes down the road
