I come to this HEB location often, and had to come in the midst of chaos during Thanksgiving Week for a few last minute items. I frantically was searching for Cardamom in the bulk section. Then was approached my an employee named Christian asking me if I needed assistance. The Cardamom was all empty and he informed me he’d go check to see if there was more in stock, and he brought up more of the item. I did not expect there to be such great customer service during such a frantic Holiday week, and wanted to take the time to say I appreciate him taking the time to be so friendly and helpful! Thank you!

Texans love their HEB. There are good reasons for it. HEB is big on philanthropy and community outreach, donating part of it's earnings to charitable organizations and helping storm or hurricane ravaged Texans in their time of need.But let's get down to brass tacks shall we? H-E-B is a grocery store and it's main function is to provide groceries to Texans. And what defines a good grocery chain are clean stores, helpful employees and well stocked items. And the HEB at Slaughter and Escarpment fails miserably on this last point (well stocked items). Several items show up as 'Out of stock' every time I try to shop here on a weekday. Even allowing for the fact that weekends are a better bet to find everything one needs, not having essentials stocked on weekdays is nothing short of egregious. Be it soap, shampoo, beer, vegetables or even pantry based items, you are more likely than not to find them out of stock.The solution to this problem isn't shopping on a weekend. Some people prefer not to shop in a crowded store on weekends. The solution is to keep items stocked throughout the week. And in that mission, this HEB fails.

Good HEB that I sometimes frequent when going to one of the offices. As I only go there just after they open in the AM it is never crowded. Since they do not have HEB Go kiosks I wouldn't go during a busy time.

October 2023:I have been shopping at this H-E-B location ever since it opened but over time it has slightly degraded from a luxury grocery store to box box style. There used to be cooking stations all over showing you how to make different types of meals, and now down to one with a few try-this stations. Luckily the wine tasting has remained. They're also used to have a small bookstore with writers showing up for book signings. Recently this store underwent another renovation where shelves moved closer together and higher. H-E-B constantly ties to push their own brands on you and even removes popular ones where have to go elsewhere to find them. Their seafood department is the best I have seen and only H Mart would surpass them with live creatures.The checkout process is not a pleasant experience with stressed out and sulky employees. You have to bring your own bags else they will charge you up to $.25 per bag. They suppose to place your refrigerated items in plastic bags like meat but they don't. There are a wide range of checkouts to choose from like two different types of self checkouts to regular ones depending how many items you have. Sometimes the lines get long and baskets start to bump together. They also have curbside where have to navigate the store employees pushing racks around (remember the isles got skinnier?). I never used H-E-B Curbside but mostly H-E-B Delivery where I would rank with Amazon Fresh and Costco Delivery. H-E-B Delivery gives you paper bags and place cold items in plastic ones.Overall you still can find what you need and being a small footprint don't get tired a your cart around versus the much larger H-E-B stores. And I do like the way they decorate for the seasons.

Update - HEB always comes through in the end. Would have deleted this review because they fixed everything, but it is important to note that HEB responded locally, immediately. Old review (when it turns out they were redoing the store) follows:"impossible to ship here, 90% of isles are blocked by stocking or giant HEB shopper carts (who seem to have the right of way) - not a time of day issue, this is constant. Further, the worst self check in the retail business."

The curbside at this location is terrible!!! The last two times I’ve been here there hasn’t been anywhere to park and the line is backed up into the parking lot. It’s a total cluster!! 2-3 poor employee running carts out to about 20 spots. You shouldn’t take this many orders is you can’t handle the volume.

This is one the cleaner and most organized HEBs that I have been to. The staff is friendly and very helpful for the most part. I have encountered a few bad apples as they say. But the produce is always fresh.
