Hannah, you were very disappointing. I realize I was over 10 minutes late but I tried calling THREE times to let you know I was stuck behind a car wreck. When I got there you said you were busy with other clients.... during what would have been my allotted appointment time. You then proceeded to tell me there was nothing you could do about my roots and basically laughed at me when I said I wanted an ash blonde saying it would take too long and her next appointment would be there soon and told me "this is more of a brunette dying establishment." Really? Why would you book something for a client that you won't have time for? Your condescending attitude is what landed you this damning review. If you're a pretentious, vapid brunette then this is your place. Only have this place at 1 star so I could leave this review, they don't even deserve the one.

Kati Monier made me a very happy gal today! She is super talented. I've been growing out a mohawk for the past year and a half and my hair was in pretty bad shape, all kinds of different levels plus massive split ends from waiting so long to cut it. I just wanted my hair to look normal again. Kati totally whipped me into shape. I could not be happier. My hair has pretty layers now and a healthy bounce, exactly what I asked for she made it happen. I give Kati my highest recommendation.

Laura Jackson is the best artist who has ever done my hair. She does an incredible job with color and style. Laura is professional in every way and I totally trust her with my hair. She nails the color perfectly every time and I leave Dye Salon feeling pretty and attractive. I have been going to see her for about 4+ years and highly recommend her. Her prices are reasonable and you do get what you pay for. I will never ever go to anyone else. Lael H

Curly girls, you know how hard it is to pick a new stylist. At worst, we get someone who whacks at our hair in giant chunks or *shudders* thinks a straight cut is a good idea. At best, we find a stylist who cuts at an angle, understands layering, and maybe dials it up with a razor for texture. I thought I had experienced top-notch curly cuts, and then Carla Estevez moved the bar.

Worst experience ever. I actually specifically chose Laura, from reading yelp reviews. I wanted to go lighter, and people mentioned her giving good results. We had very different experiences. Maybe she was having a bad day, she was hardly on time for a 2 pm appointment, and acted flustered from the get go. Walked out before service began, as zero confidence in Laura. We texted ahead a general idea, lightening/going blonde discussed. Laura gave me intense anxiety, was very condescending and rude. I felt bullied to do a style I did not want. She told me she can dye my hair orange, or give me balyage. I do not like balyage, this is a trend, not the only hair style for lighter hair. Why would anyone pay money for orange? She insisted, I get balyage, orange, or I can leave the salon, basically is how it ended. I wish I was exaggerating, or hyperbole. She is the pits, zero customer service skills, and not able to provide simple lightening procedure. 10/10 do NOT recommend.

At best, we find a stylist who cuts at an angle, understands layering, and maybe dials it up with a razor for texture. I thought I had experienced top-notch curly cuts, and then Carla Estevez moved the bar. I found Carla via a friend-recommendation, and I've referred her many times since. Here's what makes her stand out in my mind: she curates curls like she's sculpting, rather than cutting them in a traditional way. My first cut, I needed a complete reshape, so she did The Usual that I'm familiar with to get reasonable layers. Then she dried it...and the magic began. Once she could see what my curls were doing, she pulled individual curls out to snip, and continued this way around my head as we talked about how the shape was coming along. Because of this approach, I could SEE what was emerging and have input. As a result, I ended up with an adorable angled cut that had lift and bounce and really put my curls in their best mode. I also went shorter than I EVER would have allowed another stylist to take me, because each step, she asked questions, and because of my response, we adjusted. It's been two years now of amazing cuts and I rarely wear my hair pulled back now...it's just too happy to be contained. If you need a curl-tamer, go see Carla. Seriously, you deserve a cut this good!

Laura Jackson at Dye salon is one of the best hair stylists in Austin. I moved to Austin 4 years ago and asked a friend whose hair color and cut I liked for her stylist's name. From day one I was so pleased. Laura gives amazing haircuts and is truly a gifted colorist. She is a true professional! I guess the best recommendation I can give is that I'm still going to Laura 4 years later. I love that she's always on board to try something new when I'm ready for a change. On the personal side she has a wonderful personality and great sense of humor! I encourage you to make an appointment with Laura today and see for yourself!

I have a LOT of black, thick hair, so I usually get nervous about going to the salon. Today, I went in for purple hair and I'm SO happy with it. I gave Emily a rough idea of what I wanted and it's even better than I imagined! It's like she read my mind! The job done is beautiful and my experience there was just as amazing. Emily is so friendly, the chairs in the salon are so comfortable, and the environment itself is so welcoming. I'll definitely be back!
