I bring my work truck here almost exclusively.The owner of the shop is always willing to give his time over the phone to talk you through simple fixes.He even lets you know if the repair is very doable with minimal mechanic knowledge, saving us a trip and a hefty bill.Don’t cheat yourself out of an honest mechanic pro. **they've moved 6820 Guadalupe St** No one likes car troubles but especially when you're out of town! My car overheated on my drive from Houston to Austin over a weekend *groans* which meant I was basically stuck until I could get it to a shop. Bright and early Monday morning I showed up at Carter's and Jake, the owner took great care of me. They worked as diligently and efficiently as they could and gave me updates all the way. I was able to get my car back fairly quickly and assured that I'd make it back to Houston safely, and I did! Wills was also so reassuring and kind at my time of pick up. Made me feel real confident that my car was road-ready

When I found Jake at his Carter's Automotive I'd already had my car "fixed" or so I thought. The problem was a little better for a little over a week when I brought it back to the original mechanic for another look, and sadly an unaffordable new quote. I found Jake through a friend's referral. He gave it a look, and me a reasonable quote, for less than half what the guy who'd be "re- fixing" did. He gave a fair breakdown for parts & labor. It was scheduled, and efficiently & effectively repaired. Jake even noticed another part I'd do well to upgrade and did that too for a nominal fee. They were hard working, honest & understanding of the stress we endure when our vehicles need care. I recently referred a friend to him a couple of weeks ago who also had an impressive experience. I'll be referring him business, proudly in the know where you can find honest car care. Thank you Jake.

Had been having ac issues for some time and had another shop try to fix it and fail. Jake was able to diagnose the problem quickly and communicated the problem to me clearly. The ac was fixed in half a day for an extremely fair price and has been running flawlessly for 3 months now. No need to look anywhere else for car care.

Great work, speed and communication. Pricing was high compared to quotes gathered after the fact, however the turn around to have my truck back was the fastest in town. $1000 for an alternator on a work truck.

Another win from Carter's! I had some wheel wobble and I suspected it was due to misaligned tires so I brought my car in. I called first and Jake was very nice and professional over the phone. I explained the issue and he told me to bring it on in. I brought my suv in on I think a Thursday morning around 10am and was shocked to learn they'd have it driven and diagnosed by lunch. I was expecting to have to leave it there overnight. Drop off was quick and easy. Jake was friendly and provided great service. He texted me at lunch and explained the issue was due to tire wear and was able to get two used tires from the tire shop he uses next door. He put them on and I had my car picked up and back with me good to go by early afternoon! As a woman, sometimes going to a mechanic can be intimidating as I don't know much about cars and am always worried about getting overcharged or ripped off. I've brought two different cars to Carter's and I've had fantastic experiences both times from the customer service all the way to payment and picking up the car. No surprises and they've always been super up front about cost. Would most definitely recommend!

last year i brought my 93 Del sol there and he fixed it and quoted us amazing price, i just brought my 2004 g35 there and he did such an amazing job on it and he never charges a lot. they are probably some of the best mechanics in the Austin area service is always fast and he always communicates with you everything that you need to know. highly recommend him and his crew
