Announcing the dance lessons are cancelled via instagram a mere 2 hours before they are meant to start is extremely upsetting for the fastidious planners who had planned their evening around attending. I only checked the website before arriving as I do not use instagram anymore due to a social media cleanse.
Such a shame. Such a sad shame. Truly sad. A shame.

Over priced, dirty, rude staff, food is sub par. The bartenders are the worst ever. They yelled at customers, get mad for having to serve and just put your food on a table and yell your name. No silverware, tables are dirty and they have no common courtesy or hospitality. Sad to see this place turn off so many tourists. Bathrooms are disgusting. It’s not worth visiting the Broken Spoke.

So much fun, we went early for the class- $15 cover to get in (Cash only) and $20 bucks a person for the class. The instructor was boisterous and entertaining for sure! This is a historical building with rich history of the country music! You can bring teens to the dance class. I heard the food is great particularly the country fried chicken, but I didn’t get a chance to try it, next time for sure, because I’m definitely going back!

I found the dance teacher, Terri White, crass - inappropriately commenting on women’s bodies and being critical of paying guests.
The bar itself is not bad and has live music, but there are other places I’d recommend in Austin instead :)

This place has so much history. If you love country music, you have to go here. They teach dancing on Saturday nights and then you get to dance all night. What a great place for tourists for locals. Everybody is so friendly. They only take cash, so you have to come prepared. Everyone was so friendly. What a great night? I highly recommend this to anyone visiting Austin.

A true honky tonk / dancehall with some of the best food in Austin and a very friendly staff. Getting to eat chicken fried steak while sitting under Waylon and Willie's guitars is something truly special.
I'm sure Hank done it this way

I lived down the street when I was in college. Played music there for years. Ate there. I've seen everyone there, you name em. If ya ain't been there, you better go! As Mr. James White would say..."git your best girl, come two-step, waltz, git ya a chicken-fried steak. We ain't got none of that grey poupon...we got regular mustard...none that Piere water." Come dance and have fun. Everybody has to go at least once in their life.

favourite honkytonk/music bar I’ve ever been to, the atmosphere is amazing and all the staff could not be more friendly, will definitely return next time I’m in Austin. Music was great too.

We truly enjoyed our visit to Broken Spoke last night! The band that played in the dining room played the good old country we love to listen to. We snacked on some yummy cheese fries with bacon and then afterwards moved into the dancehall where the second band also played great dance music. The dance floor was packed but we were able to navigate it and danced the night away! The beer was cold and the ambiance was just what we hoped for.

Was excited to take my family for the dance lesson. Doorman said $160 for my fam of 5 (2 kids, 3 adults). I was about to pay it but knew it was off. When I asked about it, he was rude and quick to firmly and untactfully reiterate $160. When I took out my phone calculator, he became more irritated and was convinced he was right. He was snarky and the whole vibe was bad. So I asked my girls if they wanted to shop at Cavender's and Bucees instead. A big yes on that one. I'll never step foot in the broken spoke again. Horrible etiquette. I'm embarrassed for them.
