I came to this facility looking for a sweet animal to adopt and I was not disappointed. The staff here was so incredibly nice and answered all questions I had. I adopted “Peabody” and he is the sweetest boy ever.

I went to drop off an injured cat and the staff were very helpful. They weren't doing intakes at the time but still managed to take the cat since it was a previous SNR. I was updated after the fact and was let know the cat was adopted!

This place literally puts dangerous animals up for adoption and lies about their records. “Blitz” was given to the shelter after it killed another dog that it attacked unprovoked. After no one wanted to adopt Blitz, they changed its name to Ferdinand. Be careful.

I want the community to know about what happened to me at Austin Animal Center. I applied to get a small dog so they noticed me that they had a puppy that I could have so I went to look at him and fell in love with him. They told me to pick him up 3 days later. I returned to get him and was told that I could NOT have him. Why? They assumed that I would not follow up with his appointments at the vet just because I forgot my phone that day. Another animal agency manager told me that Austin Animal Center was wrong for doing what they did. Austin Animal Center still does not see that they did WRONG and they NEVER apologized for their wrong doing.
I thought they were in the business for finding good homes for pets and I have always been a GOOD owner to all of my pets (dogs & cats) so I would NEVER donate to ASPCA because they are not in business for the benefit of these poor homeless pets like the say they are. I am still VERY UPSET over this situation. The pruneface manager that backed up her employee looked like she was into "witchcraft" so I don't understand why they would put her into a management position. She was terrible. They didn't even offer to reimburse me for my Uber fee to get to the Animal Center. It was an expense that I had to pay to go get nothing.
If this hadn't happened, I would be donating to these animal agencies because I have a strong heart for animals. I would like your opinions in the community please.
Thank you
Linda

This Shelter lacks any decent communication, especially for a center that is "at capacity". I have wasted weeks of time working with them, first with a dog that was being treated for a URI that was said to be released to meet on a specific day. I submitted the application and waited. Never heard from them so I went back to visit the day they said he would be released. Of course, when I showed up, they had not released him nor did they communicate that to me. When I finally did get to meet him several days later, the dog ended up biting me (He had been isolated for weeks and was surely stressed). I went yesterday to look at another dog, asked to meet him but it was after 6pm so they told me to come back the following day. Showed up at 11am the next day, and found out younger dogs must be 5 months old to interact with. Which was no problem, the dogs tag stated he was 5 months old. Fill out application, wait, get called over to the adoptions table and the dog "is actually 4.5 months old so you can't actually meet or play with him." Are you serious? COMMUNICATION people, stop wasting the time of potential adopters looking to give good homes and relieve your "overcrowding". It's such a joke. I will not be wasting anymore time with this shelter.

This place is terrible. They put pics up and make you think pet is available then when you get there they tell you sorry you can't see or get the one we said was available not correct weight but you can look at others typical bait and switch tactic WHICH SUCKS

Always helpful and it's always good to share a lil time with animals in need of love, we might not take them all, but we did make they day a lil better, I hope people would help more to get them out the shelter, and give a.good life to each one of them

Some volunteers are very and helpful and some others think that this is a shop which is not how we want to see it!
We got our two cute kittens from there brother and sister and now they are super happy!
NB : our kittens had mite when we got them .. make sure to treat your cat since they keep changing cage, changing towels etc ..

0/10. Unhelpful. Waste of my tax dollars. I’m so upset about the visit I had today, they really don’t care about your situation. I found some dogs at my work, I don’t know these dogs, they made me keep them. What is civil service even for? They made me sit in the heat for 45 minutes, while their website said I was next, I watched multiple people get taken care of before me. I was told by the Georgetown shelter that legally they HAVE to take the dogs, but I wasn’t interested in a fight. Very disappointed.
