I was so lucky to be helped by Alex. He took the time to look over my car and explain everything my car needed. He also made sure that all the work helped fix the problems with my car. He was also very fast and efficient. I am so grateful for Alex fixing my car and I highly recommend!!

This is a small one-man operation, and I got every benefit of that. Alex will not push anything on you that you don’t need. He did beautiful work for a beautiful price and my brakes were not only done for less than I planned, but much faster. First TWO times I went to him, I ended up spending nothing after his altruistic advice. Real deal. Owner/operator with no shortage of expertise and phenomenal advice, on more than just cars.*He cleaned my wheels!! I got my brakes done and my car LOOKS better!

I will be coming back here for all of my vehicle maintenance for now on! Alex is the best mechanic that I have ever met. He is honest, communicative, and was excited to help.I came to this shop after another shop quoted me a ton of repairs that were going to cost over $4k altogether. Some of the repairs were valid and necessary so I went to Alex to get the most pressing ones done first. He was nice enough to inform me that the rest of the repairs were unnecessary after looking them over, which is saving me a ton of money that the other shop would have gladly took.I'm so thankful to have found someone who doesn't pray on customers like me who don't have the knowledge or the tools to inspect all of the intricate parts of an aging car. Thank you Alex for being honest with me, and for taking the time to teach me about some best practices for maintaining my car. Thank you so much!

I was delivering auto parts few years back and I met Alex on the job. At the time I needed a mechanic for my small fleet of vehicles. I usually have two or three cars at any given time one main car and a backup car. I decided to use Allstate for several jobs on two different cars. One car had suspension work and emissions work done tune up stuff and one car was the air conditioner. Lets just start by saying when I asked the guys at the parts store I was working for if I should use Alex they kinda responded with "meh" and that should have been a sign but I was desperate and I needed someone to help me get my classic car going. My overall feelings are mixed because I am a mechanic and I have been around auto parts and shady mechanics most of my life in Austin. Alex is indeed a competent mechanic. He will fix your problem. However there are things about him that are not 5 star. He is a mechanic that if you ask him about an issue he does not start off by discussing it rather he immediately goes in front of a desktop pc and starts to click numbers into a computer program to give you the inflated dealer price for work. When you hear parts guys saying "list" and "stock" list cost is the most inflated cost and stock is the base cost. This is common knowledge in the automotive parts and mechanic industry. This annoyed me to no end. He guy cannot remember prices for routine work. Example: I told him to change my spark plugs and I did not get a quote I did not expect the job to cost 80 dollars especially since he had to pull them anyways to pull off the intake for emissions work. Every thing he does he will charge you the maximum allowable cost. Good for him but he almost bankrupted me at the time. I have out of necessity replaced some of the parts he replaced and most of the work was just removing nuts and bolts all the control arms and parts nowadays are already pressed in ball joints and such no need for specialty tools so why the excessive labor costs? The other car a Chevrolet cavalier needed some A/C parts installed. He claimed that the AC Delco condenser would not fit. These parts are made of incredibly soft aluminum but he did not want to bend the tubes to get them to fit (total bull') so the part had to be returned online and the waiting game began again. The next part a different brand fit and the job got done I bought all the parts and they installed them for 700 dollars. His assistant was wearing this cowboy belt buckle during the install and scratched up my fender. The ac lasted 6 months and broke. Shoddy work. My fault because I touched the car before him he probably would say. Overall I would say to prospective customers that you will probably have to leave the car for several weeks or months and send him parts and the price of the work will still be as high as a dealership. Doesn't compute for me. Some advice if you do use him do not ask him to do small things you can do at home because the bill will look like it is from the IRS. I recently reached out to him to ask him to diagnose a no start on a project car a Chrysler Sebring. He flat out refused to look at it. He stated that he did not want to be bothered with something that other mechanics had worked on. That is total Bull. He did not want to do a job that is hard. He only wants to work on pretty cars. He then asked me about my Ford Thunderbird and wanted to work on that car instead presumably because in his eyes it is a cash cow. I think maybe he might be ready to retire, he probably once was a great mechanic but his good intentions are hampered by greed a common occurrence in this type of work. I cannot reccomend him as much work as he did none of it was to the level of professionalism he charged me for. I highly recommend Austin DIY shop for those in a bind and on a budget with some mechanic knowledge.

Alex helped me out so much ! He was the closest shop around me when my car started overheating like crazy , He made me feel like I was in good hands , explained everything perfectly . Repair was done in a few days , and the cost was not bad at all! Most importantly he will NOT rip you off , he went in great detail with pricing . I def recommend him 100%

I was calling around to get an alignment done and though Alex wasn't able to offer that service he didn't just hang up like the other 7 places I had called, he asked what was wrong with my car and then offered some suggestions on where I could go to get my Kia looked at. I will definitely be coming here for future car issues. Customer service 10/10. I felt like I was able to trust my mechanic by just one phone call. I recommend this place for your car troubles!
