Went twice in same day. Unable to be seated both times. Staff provided little hospitality. We wanted to experience this venue based on reviews. It was our first time and our experience being greeted at the door was poor. Unfortunately we cannot comment on the food. We were told at 4:10pm we could be seated in the rain-soaked, “lower seating” even when all tables in the covered patio and inside were empty. Our group of 4 interacted with 4 staff persons. Was not a positive experience overall and very disappointing. We went across the street to Jack Allen’s Kitchen and had a great time with very friendly and welcoming staff.

We decided to try this restaurant down the street from our hotel on 6th Street. We didn't have a reservation, but we were told we could sit at the bar. The bar has seats around it as well as a few tables of 4 and tables for 2. We took a table for two and enjoyed the bar's ambiance. We had a great server who was friendly, gave excellent selection advice and was consistently around to refill our water glasses, which I always appreciate. We started with the Oven Roasted House Meatballs, which were quite big (4 in all), and you could tell they were freshly made. It came with two slices of bread that were perfect for this appetizer. I'm not sure what type of bread it was, but we both felt it enhanced the meatballs. The sauce itself was divine! We also requested to share a Large Grove Wedge Salad with our meal and the server brought it out on two separate plates, perfectly sliced for two. It was also quite good and complimented our main dish selections. I order the Bolognese and the sauce was similar to the meatballs but had more of a creamy texture to it. It was probably one of the best Bolognese dinners I have ever experienced! The serving was quite large, and I had to take nearly half of it in a to-go box. My friend had the Spicy Asian Noodles (based on our server's recommendation), and she too raved about her dish and had to get a to-go box, as we were both pleasantly full. If I am back in Austin again, I will not hesitate to make a reservation and return to this great restaurant.

It's hard to believe that after checking out all of the items on this menu, three of us ordered pizza. The fourth person had the flounder and said it was delicious. I have never had a bad pizza but these are extraordinary. Crispy crust and delicious toppings. The wine selection is huge. The service, by Meghan, was excellent and atmosphere is very nice. Good food in a foodie city.

Had the veggie burger, was totally not worth it, no taste, no texture.... what a disappointment, I was looking forward to enjoying the burger, oh well, some other place next time....

Had an after meeting dinner here. We tried their pizza and I had a wine from their nice selection. Everything was very good. I thought they had had a nice menu with excellent choices. The noise level inside was a bit elevated, but the outside looked very nice and quiet. I'll be back here the next time I'm in Austin!

A great place- lots of food options and the price is great for such quality food. Our waitress was friendly and had great recommendations. The wine of course is perfect as well. Good vibe, good music!

My airport hotel did not offer food/bar service until 4:00. Took an Uber to the Grove and was not disappointed. Sat outside on the patio. Was seated by a beautiful creek. The avocado toast and wine were amazing!

We sat out on the patio on a beautiful and warm night in December (!). Started with a flight of wines each (they had about 10 choices) and a cheese and meat plate to share. That was excellent, so we followed that up with a bottle of one of the wines we had tasted and then I got the flounder (large piece) done perfectly. (The two of us managed to finish that bottle of wine, no problem, it was really good!). I thought the meal was very good value and the wines for the flights chosen well. Things were really busy but the service was excellent! Bravo!

THE LOCATION: When I stepped onto their back balcony I felt like I was transported outside of Texas. What a beautiful paradise they created on the deck! COVID REVIEW: The tables were for the most part well spaced and the staff seemed to follow covid protocols. THE DRINKS: Frose was refreshing but could have been a touch more "frozen" (it melted pretty quick!) Apple and brussels sprouts salad was sweet and savory. The ceviche was tangy and fresh; I wish it came with a few more chips though. The pizza of good portion. We loved its puffy crust although I wouldn't necessarily recommend the Italian sausage (but this could be a personal preference). THE VERDICT - yep definitely would come again!

My husband and I went to the Grove on a Friday night - we recommend getting a reservation in advance because we saw several others that had to wait. The bruschetta starter was great and we appreciated the wine selection! I got the crispy Asian salad with salmon and loved it - a healthy and filling dinner!

My first trip back to The Grove downtown ATX in this post-COVID weirdness breach of the time-space continuum. The food was great, drinks were good, service was OK. The food: Texas Redfish ceviche, a unique recipe of the Mexican appetizer. Lots of super fresh veggies, a bit of jalapeno for some heat, and super fresh fish. It was awesome. Fried Oysters were a good as ever. Perfectly fried oysters, topped with a spicy aioli and mango poblano pico de gallo. Set atop home made potato chips, were proved to be the perfect delivery vehicle for the oysters. The Wine Lover's and Sausage Gone Wild pizzas were both great. A perfect blend of sauce, toppings and cheese, atop an incredibly fresh hand made dough. The drinks were good. Not much worth having on the specialty cocktail menu (good drinks, just not to our liking). A thorough, well thought out mix of old world and new world wines on the wine list. The Grove also offers 10 different flights, we selected #8, several very good Italian reds to compliment our pizzas. The miscues were on the service side, water glasses empty and dirty dishes left on the table for an extended time. Overall, a good visit, and a solid 4 star meal.

Tried to give some business to them during COVID. Made a reservation online and then had trouble getting an Uber due to COVID. Showed up 2 min late to 10 min window and they had canceled our reservation. Even though open table said they would contact US if there would be a problem with seating us, I did not hear from them. Have been to much nicer places in town during COVID that were much more accommodating.

Accidentally left this review on Westlake’s- this is for downtown. Service was bad, didn’t help with seating preference and clearly the hostess did not care. Got order wrong. Hostess was of no help with explanation on no valet parking. Did I mention the hostess was terrible? Thanks for putting a damper on a trip to Austin. Will not be back.

We wanted to do a takeout lunch from the Grove. They have blocked the site so you cannot schedule a time the next day. The only option is to order 20 minutes in advance. We called and they stated it was impossible for our food to be ready at 11 am as they don't accept the 20 minute ahead orders until 11 am. Staff was very confused about how their online process works, but was also unwilling to take an order over the phone. Their entire approach has soured us on this restaurant.

Not happy with website. Cannot order, make changes. Very unfriendly site. Therefore to support a recently open downtown location, called to place an order. Was told by Eric, he cannot take order and must order online. Tried to explain I've been trying to place an online order. "Just keep trying" was his reply. I've been supportive when they were closed. Even contributed $500 to a go fund to support their employees. Never again will I support the Grove. I don't expect a reply. Never have. But will tell friends and neighbors that live next to them Go ahead a dine there. It's your choice. Remember when they are struggling they should welcome local patrons
