First room heater was broken, second the phone was broken so when I got downstairs I was informed the pool and hot tub were closed due to renovations. So do not book this hotel expecting rooms where everything works or if you are wanting an indoor heated pool and hot tub.Noteworthy details: Everything seems to be broken.

My company books between 30-50 nights at this hotel a year for the last 10 years. I make up probably 10 of those nights each year. I became sick after one night for a two night reservation. I asked if I can check out early before checkout time so they could re-rent room, and they could waive the fee. They said no and referred to their policy, which is fair. I told them this was a bit rare and we book a lot of rooms with them if they want to re-consider. They reconsidered, but didn't change conclusion, which is fair but disappointing. The dollars and cents don't make much sense, but I understand employees are given mandates and have to follow them. The hotel is old and not great. Old carpet, creaky floors. It needs renovation. It's just a central spot for some work we do that requires we book hotels for a few individuals several times throughout the year. We'll find a different spot for our business stays moving forward, and wish them well.

Front desk was so sweet, however this hotel is horrible. The tile in the bathroom was cracked, my toddler had to wear shoes to keep from hurting her feet. The toilet seat was broken. The tv had no internet connection. I had to clean pubic hair out of the bathtub to wash my kids. There was two hair strands in the bed as well. In no way was this a restful night for us.

Terrible hotel. I normally love holiday inn & find them to be quality, clean hotels always, but not this one. The smell of the hotel upon entering was like old, dirty, musty, mildew covered HEAVILY 'covered up' with pine sol or some other heavy disinfectant. Our room was worse. Shower bar falling off the wall. Cracked & broken tiles in the bathroom. Toilet wouldn't completely flush & Sink faucet not even bolted down.Carpet was very nasty & room smelled of mildew & mold. It set my husband's allergies off like crazy! The room was so old, run Down, and dirty that I put all of my stuff on top of the fridge so it wouldn't touch any fabrics in fear of bed bugs. The bed was lumpy, old mattress with extreme divots.I didn't shower at all because I didn't trust the moldy walls, broken tiles. This is honestly what I would expect from a super 8 or motel 6 where you pay by the hour. If we were staying for more than the 5 hours to just sleep, I would have gotten a refund & found another place to stay. We absolutely did not try any of the breakfast based on how the rest of the hotel was.Pool and conference room were closed for renovation so hopefully that's the begining of a total hotel reno, though the other reviews state that it's been in "reno" for over a year.I read that It was recently closed down & I think it should have stayed that way. My husband was mind blown at the bad condition & I swore to him the pictures posted of the whole hotel looked great & reviews are at 4.5 stars. I don't know how that is not false advertising at its finest. ABSOLUTE rip off for the $181 I had to pay for ONE night.

The cleanliness of the rooms was subpar. The room smelled like a bag of dirty socks and the carpet felt sticky. The tiles in the bathroom were broken and a safety hazard. The staff was friendly and helpful to put us in another room.

Hello everyone. Holiday Inn Express Athens and their employees are the most unprofessional people I have ever seen. My husband booked months ago. He shows up last night and they checked him into a room. Only for him to get to the assigned room and it is out of order. He went back downstairs to get a new room and was told that every room in the hotel was booked. So he is away from home and hotels are limited in this area. They did not provide any resolution, so he had to locate a hotel by driving through town. Alexis at the front desk told him that it was refunded, I contacted Guest services and it was not refunded and she had to wait until her General Manager Samantha came in. When I spoke to Alexis she said that she did not know Samantha's boss's name, that she had only been there 2 weeks, she did not receive orientation and that she was alone in the hotel. I created a ticket and was assured that Samantha would be calling. Well she hasn't SHOCKER! So I guess not only does the hotel need additional training but make sure you call and check to make sure a room is available. I will provide an update IF they call but I wouldn't hold your breath!Share away

This hotel does NOT look like the pictures posted. It is in need of MAJOR cleaning and updating. The carpet is disgusting with stains, the furniture is outdated and damaged, cob webs in corners of the hallways, fold out chair at the desk in the room and the list goes on. This does NOT feel like a $170 night hotel, more like a Days Inn or Motel 6 and I feel like I got ripped off and scammed! We've always felt comfortable staying at HIE because they are usually nice and clean rooms. Staying at this location was absolutely not what we expected and would not recommend it to anyone.

Honestly, I was not very impressed with this Holiday Inn - which is a shame because I will say the front desk has great customer service skills. She was doing her best to make my arrival be very welcome. As I’m checking in late ish into my room, they immediately let me know Wi-Fi isn’t currently available and they did try to compensate by leaving waters and a couple of snacks in the room, free of charge. There is also a sign saying that the pool is shut down. Once I get to my room, I had to kill a roach and looks like there are burn marks or stains in the carpet as well. I’m not a fan of roaches and that just kind of threw it all off for me. I called to try to cancel, but it was already too late in the evening.

Probably the best hotel in Athens. Not a four-star stay by any stretch, but a decent place to stay in this small town.

Here's the picture that should be there. Don't know why only 3 of them got there but chair did not. Place was clean, chair was raged out and wasn't comfortable to sit in, but set up was great. Hopefully they will change furniture around when remodeling the hotel.Breakfast was as expected, fantastic. They are not up to date there, all old fashioned. Tv tiny thing, couldn't read much on it due to being so small. Need more trash cans in room.I can keep going, but had a funeral to go to and needed a place to lay head, I'd come back in a flash, but only if I can use my ihg points, couldn't this time, but if not next time then I will look for a different place first.Picture of chair was no a compliment, this day and time we do like updated stuff, not outdated, Rinky-dink, torn-up stuff. But, the staff, cleanliness, Breakfast, is fantastic.

The rooms smell like mold, and it seems like it may have had some water damage. I will not be staying at this location till they get this problem resolved.

$150 for the room for a night. The room was not clean, beds were so squeaky even rolling over in bed. Also out the back door where the smoke hole is there are holes in the ground. They can't be seen till u fall in one like I did.Rooms: Not updated or cleanWalkability: Holes outside on the ground on the business property. Someone should fix this.

If I could give 10 stars I would have! We needed a block of rooms for our son's wedding. I worked with Lydia the GM and Samantha on the arrangements. They were excellent, kind and professional. We asked for help with goodies for our guests and they were super helpful. The breakfast was wonderful and the staff were friendly. Every single staff member we encountered was top notch! I found out that the hotel is 30 minutes from Canton - now I have a new favorite place to stay for First Monday!

The rooms are larger than your regular hotel. The location was perfect for us as it's a mile from food and coffee and the horse show grounds.. Athens has some very unique and tasty eateries. So it's a great place to stop for a day. The Holiday Inn is a popular place but our room had a broken hair dryer and the handicapped bar for the shower had a side that wasn't attached to the wall. I'm willing to bet no one wants to tell management as to be blames for the repairs. That's my guess. But it's not a huge deal if you bring your own hairdryer and don't rely on the handicapped bar. ? All in all, I liked the room and would absolutely stay there again.
