We had a poor experience. The food came out cold, the chicken fried steak was a brick, and we waited almost an hour to be served.

Very kitschy place. I came here about 12 years ago and at that time thought the food was meh. BUT, this time the food was delicious. We had steak for breakfast and Rocky Mountain oysters. Those were the best I ever had!!

Definitely a tourist trap - fun for a one stop experience. Steak was blah no real flavor - had to wait almost an hour for a table. Kids like all the western things including dinner in a cowboy hat. If you want to take Yankees they would be amazed at the place. Service was ok - not excellent.

I got to have dinner with my husband at one of the most iconic steak restaurants in the entire State of Texas!!! The atmosphere, food and service was amazing! I am so happy I finally got to see it and eat there.

I visited the Big Texan Steak Ranch because I was told that it was a must-stop place on the way to Colorado. When I visited, it was crowded but not too crowded. The food was mediocre at best, for its price; I think the food was overpriced. The customer service was average -- there was one mistake that can easily be overlooked. I ordered a sweet potato as my side, but when I received my plate, it was a regular potato. I did ask the waiter to switch it, and he did. However, the food was average. I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak with Sweet Potato and Macaroni and Cheese. The Chicken Fried Steak tasted pretty good, but my sides did not. The sweet potato was bland and dry, and the macaroni and cheese were dry and cheese-less. When I took a bite out of my macaroni and cheese, it tasted like the pasta itself, no cheese or seasoning, just the plain ole' macaroni pasta. Not good. For the price, I was expecting better than that. Outside of the dining area, there's a gelato place called Alba Gelato. The gelato was not worth its price. The taste was OK, but the texture of the gelato was VERY grainy, not like the typical gelato I've had. Overall, I think this place is a big tourist trap, and unless you're doing the 72 oz steak challenge, it's not worth a visit. straykittens.net IG: www.instagram.com/_straykittens

It is a big tourist place that is filled with try with games, fake slots and plenty of place to take pictures. The food is pretty good a bit over priced but a place that is a must try if in the area. The mountain oysters were good perfectly fried a little soft in the middle( a cross between a gizzard and a liver is the best explanation) not my first time eating them but taste good. The steak was a perfect medium rare and au jus was ok. But the bread was soft warm and delicious. We ate a 21 oz steak between the 2 of us and were stuffed. I personally would never try the 72 oz challenge.

Road tripping through Texas, I just had to get a steak. And wow, this place fit the bill perfectly! Got the Dallas cut ribeye, with the green beans and a Caesar salad (keto diet). The steak was tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection! The flavor and texture was amazing. The green beans were flavorful, with chunks of bacon in them. The Caesar salad was a refreshing, crisp combination, that balanced well with the steak. Lunch was better than I was hoping! Now, you don't just stop here for the steak. Oh, no! This place has character (s). The outside is adorned with many a "Texas" photo opportunity. All you selfie fans rejoice. A Giant Bull solidly guards the entrance, while a Giant Cowboy Boot attracts the little cowpokes! Inside, this place gets even better! They have the old carnival shooting gallery, lots of old style arcade games, a giant stuffed bear, many stuffed animal heads, and even "Zoltar" (I tried to free him, but no luck). Highly recommend, if you like steak, you will love this place!

Idk guys I think it's one of those things you came and done it and got it out of your system. Not very friEndlY and not very good at all it's average...: not worth the money for sure... none of us finished our meals not even half. The brisket I swear comes from a container not fresh at all. And I've judged some of the biggest world BBQ competitions in the USA.... some girls need to learn when you bend in a dress things show.... idk never would come back

Stopped here a few times over the last few years. Won't be back again. Ordered the 20 oz t-bone. They must have used a surgeon's scalpel to get every gram off the filet side. The rest was purely tough. Not quite shoe leather, but close. It was really hard to cut, and I ordered rare... With the beer and the tip I blew close to $40 on a truly poor steak. Unless you really want the tourist trap ambience, try somewhere else.

This place was amazing.Yes it's a tourist place but it is fun, awesome food, great atmosphere, friendly people. The limousine service will pick you up starting at 4pm till 9pm,and will take you back when you are ready. It is a wild west salon feel.A cheesy shooting gallery 25 shots for a dollar.Oversize objects to take pics at or on.Usual tourist gift shop. But the food, loved it,we got steaks, green beans, okra, fried pickles, amazing.Got a sampler of different beers only 6$,there is a hotel too, next time we are here will check it out.Love the quirkiness of the place, its good to see a unique place if you are tired of chain and fast food places. The kids meals come with a cowboy hat,I got one just for the hat

We stop here anytime we drive through Amarillo. The steak is always awesome and so is the service! The waiters and the all the staff here are really sweet people! The atmosphere is amazing, especially at Christmas time when all the decor is lit up! Definitely a must stop place if anyone is ever in Amarillo!

Had to stop at this place on our way to Santa Fe, because I have never been there and have always heard of the 72oz steak challenge. No way I could eat that much steak, but was interested in the place anyway. It is quite the tourist destination. I expected an expensive piece of shoe leather, but was pleasantly surprised. I had the breakfast eggs, steak and biscuits. It was pretty good, the steak was flavorful, eggs were scrambled and OK, and biscuits and gravy were tasty. Nothing really special, but filling. Price was reasonable for a touristy place.

So we stopped here because friends would not shut up about the challenge. If you think that you can finish that huge meal, you may have another thing coming to ya! We were greeted warmly when we walked in. The place was huge. They were busy but it wasn't loud. We asked for a table. It took a touch of time to find a spot for us. We have specific requirements for seating (not cause we are fancy or picky, we have a family member in a wheelchair). Once seated, we were greeted for our drink order. I ordered the flight of beer. I recommend this because they have a ton of tasty beers and trying them all was great. The wife order some foofoo drink. The kids are easy and ordered lemon aid and root beer. Once our drinks came, we ordered food. The wife and I split a big steak. Not "the" big steak but it was 16oz. The kids split the nuggets. The cool thing about the kids meal is that it comes in a cowboy or cowgirl hat. Since the kids split, they were nice and brought us an extra hat. The steak was amazing. Well seasoned and cooked perfectly. My wife thought it was a touch under done so they threw her half back on. Mine was a perfect mid rare. The kids didn't eat much. It was a long day. All in all, we had a great dinner. Some random couple was super nice and bought our meal. We had no clue they were gonna buy it. They wished to remain anonymous. So to that couple that bought our meal, thank you so much. You didn't have to do that. It was a super nice jester. I hope you holidays were amazing! God bless you and your family!
