They've been promising to open the pool for two years. Always in six months or at the first of the year. The facility itself is not open enough to sustain a serious fitness program. If you work normal hours you can only access the gym Monday through Thursday.

I like coming here for a quick workout. The gym is clean and nice, but there’s a nice pool, that is always closed. And online, it says that the facility closes at noon, but I am here at 11:05, and they are closed. Please fix your hours on google and on your website.

This place is never open. I believe they plan staffing around being closed. Its no wonder it's a non profit - can't make any money running the pool and AC with the doors locked.

Dear YMCA, please put up a sign in the ladies locker room that says “no cell phone usage.”Hearing someone’s camera phone go off as I’m stepping out of the shower isn’t exactly comforting.I don’t care how good you think you’re looking today, Becky… put. the camera. down.

We recently moved to the area and wanted to start a healthy exercise routine as a family. The Thelma Ley facility does that for us-we can all go to the gym together and know the kids are safe and taken care of while we get a good workout in! All the staff is very nice and the facility is clean. Thanks so much for being a part of our community.

Swimming pool and surrounding area needs attention. Needs more water aerobics classes after 5:00'when most people get off work.

The facilities are decent, although the weight room is lacking.

The facilities are decent, although the weight room is lacking. My issue with this organization is their dishonest customer service. Before joining, they offered me and a group of my coworkers a large discount to join together, then refused to give us the discount promised when we showed up. They continued to offer us hypothetical discounts (if we bring a new member we'll both get reduced prices, if new members joined by a certain date they would get a free "trial month," etc,) but then they would continually he evasive when we would actually try to sign up for the deals, denying they had been offered or not giving direct answers. Lastly, when I moved out of Alvin, I asked the staff person at the front desk to cancel my membership, and was given verbal agreement that it would be cancelled. But then a month later, another $30 charge showed up on my bank account, so I called them to cancel my membership over the phone. I waited through several minutes of their advertising, to get an answering machine, so I left a message asking to cancel.my account. I received no response, so assumed it had been done. Yet, sure enough, today I got ANOTHER $30 charge on my account. When I called yet again to cancel my membership, the manager refused to refund the money they had stolen from me, claiming that because I had no proof of attempting to end my membership, they would not refund my money. The bottom line is this- from start to finish, this organization has acted in a dishonest and evasive manner. The staff is uninformed, unhelpful, and disorganized. The customer service is mediocre at best, dishonest and shady at worst. Do not give these people your credit card number, they will abuse it. I have used other YMCAs in the past and loved my experience there, I am disappointed this one is run so poorly.

I’ve been with this gym since a couple months after I gave birth to my now 6 year old. I have a 9 year old as well & they’ve always enjoyed being there in Childwatch while I work out. I don’t trust ppl with my children much but those workers do a great job & are friendly & kind. My nine year is now I’m soccer & it’s fun! The coach is great!

It's a good place for this small town of Alvin been here since 06/07 I think . It's not top of the line but does have a good variety of free weights and machines .has plenty of classes throughout the day to find one that works for you . The price for a family is 70 a month .does include child care access to the pool and all classes as well it does beat the other gyms we have just because of the child care so go get ur sweat on

Okay for basketball, weights, or exercise machines but forget it for any contemplative exercise disciplines such as yoga or tai chi. On the plus side it is a well kept facility with nice staff (although young with varying ideas of customer service). It is set off by itself with kind of funky road access but works fine once you have it figured out. Now to the yoga, etc, they have some classes available but no adequate space to actually perform routines. They directed me to use a stretching "closet" off the weight room. I call it a closet because it is about the size of a walk in closet. I gave it a go for several sessions but others using the weight room had to step over/around me to get at equipment they needed to use. Too distracting. Apparently, the corporate risk management nazis frown on opening up the unused class spaces for individual exercise because this is more risky that having someone step over you while exercising? The local manager tried to get permission but was shut down. So while I used and enjoyed the treadmills, etc. when it came to exercising my mind in addition to my body, it was a bust.

Pricy for the gym. BB court not full size and always have to share with volleyball leagues. Found a gym for $10 a month, always open, so I left. Always was clean, staff was hit or miss depending (huge turnover).
