I prepaid for my car upon arriving 10 minutes early on my flight the Avis employee was no where in sight. I stood there for a moment another lady arrived she stated she had been there for 10 minutes already and has no clue where he is. I saw a note on the counter that be back shortly. After 10 minutes of me being there I asked the hertz lady if she knew where he was; he might be cleaning a car so I walked outside around the rental cars and he was no where. I called the local line got customer service explained everything they said give him a few minutes. I said well a few minutes is 5-10 and he has already passed that time. I went looking for a place to file a complaint online but was not able to locate that just said to call customer service. After 30 minutes passed he was still not there. I went over to enterprise ask the guy there if he knew him and had his cell so we could find him. The lady and I both had plans with family…needless to say mine did not work out due to being so late waiting on your employee. The enterprise guy called his boss who called the Avis employee this guy said he was 4 minutes away. He did come walking in but by then I was mad for missing a family function. I told him we deserved some kind of refund or something, he ignored me rung me up and informed me I would not be getting anything. He then informed me I did not need to be rude; I said you should not have left without someone knowing where you are. He then informed me that I did not know what was going on he could have had a family member die…I said well if that was the case you would have called your boss so they could replace you. He said I put up a sign, I said yes you did and it said “I will be back shortly”. I asked him to define shortly, to me that is 5-10 minutes but he was over 30 minutes before he never came to the desk. I will not be back and I have purchased from Avis over the last 5 years.

Terrible experience. Turned in car full of fuel…dropped car off and got charged to fill car up at 9.99/gal. Had to call customer service. They offered to refund 30% of the fuel charge. Told them it was theft and I’m taking it to the top. They finally agreed to refund 100% of the fuel, but what a racket to have to go thru, all because employee checking in tried to make a little extra $. Be sure to check your receipt!

Rented from the airport in Abilene, TX. I don't keep credit cards but AVIS worked with me and the man behind the counter was exceptionally good. A down to earth guy. Made the whole experience smooth and the vehicle was good. I hate AVIS's national number that we have to call to get information but working with the local people at the counter is a really good experience. Wish they were the ones we could call with questions...

I would give 0 stars to this location if I could. We rented a vehicle here for our trip to Dallas and as soon as we arrived to the location, we noticed there was smoke coming out of the bumper and it was leaking. There was green stuff leaking which tells me that it’s the coolant. We drove the vehicle safely and in an orderly fashion so this tells me that they’re not maintaning their vehicles properly and risking the safety of my family because a well maintained vehicle shouldn’t do that. I called for roadside assistance and they towed the vehicle and they booked me an uber to another avis location which is in dallas fort worth airport. They gave me the keys for the replacement vehicle and I noticed right away that the check engine light was on and as I was driving it, the oil change notice popped up so this is another reason why I’m not happy with the service. We’ve also purchased the electronic toll before picking up the vehicle and it didn’t work when we were at the toll and had to pay. I’ve talked to customer service about this and the best they could offer me is a $50 refund and when I mentioned that I’d like a full refund on the e-toll that I paid for, they also offered me a free day coupon for rental but I couldn’t take the offer because I’m from Canada so I asked if I can use it there instead but he told me that I declined the offer that the best he can offer me now is the $50 and the e- toll refund. I should get a FULL refund on that e-toll because I paid for it and didn’t even get to use it properly. I even missed my reservation for ripley’s believe it or not because I had to wait for the towing and surrender the keys and get a replacement vehicle and this is the ONLY COMPENSATION they can give me after all the stuff they put me through. I’m here for vacation and instead they gave me a headache of problems that I had to handle. I didn’t decline the offer but told him if there’s any way I can use it in Canada instead but he made it sound like I declined which I DIDN’T. To anyone who’s planning to rent a vehicle, just rent somewhere else because you’re gonna have a bad experience.

Have rented twice recently from the Avis Abilene Airport location. Each time I was greeted by Roger in a friendly and professional manner. It was the easiest and friendliest car renting experience I have ever had. The vehicles are just steps away in the parking lot, not like the airports where you have to take a shuttle. The vehicles were clean and new. Everything was absolutely perfect!

I would give this place a zero star if there's an option to do that. After a 26 hours flight from Thailand, I was turned down a car for an appointment that was booked 15 days prior because of OVERBOOKING. The front-desk girl is so rude. No apologies whatsoever and even tell me that 'everybody was nice enough to wait for an hour or two.' No respect or remorse whatsoever. Just the repetition of 'it's been happening all day." Hate to break this to those who is visiting Abilene and in want of a car rental. STAY AWAY from Avis.

Avis at the Abilene airport gave me a defective vehicle. It was extremely difficult to get Roadside assistance. Left me stranded in a strange town. Vehicle died again two days later. They finally replaced my vehicle and charged me $151 for "Roadside Assistance " extremely poor service. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE!!!

Rented a truck from Avis at the Abilene airport. Truck battery died by no fault of mine. It was impossible to get support from emergency road service. Would not return my calls. Finally Send me to the airport to get my nonexistent replacement vehicle. Three days later the truck died again. I finally received a replacement vehicle. Avis now wants to charge a $151.11 for mediocre roadside assistance service for their defective vehicle. Sounds like a scam!

The reservation was a bit confusing, but this was due to the call center bit know what they were doing. The pickup desk was very helpful and even changed my rental to another car because I can't stand red. However, the rental we did get was from Colorado and literally reeked of pot. I did my best to clean and defunk it but didn't help. Otherwise the rental was actually an upgrade and was a pleasure to have. The return was easy and no issues.

Rented a car for the weekend called to extend another day and was charged almost double the original rate. Very shady if I would ok known that I would of just returned it instead of extending a day. Back to enterprise for me.
