About All Kind Animal Initiative
All Kind Animal Initiative operates the Abilene Animal Shelter. It is a non-profit organization working to improve animal welfare by building a new shelter, decreasing homeless pets through spay/neuter programs, and increasing adoptions. The shelter has been under new management for about a year, and reviewers note the staff and volunteers are fantastic, friendly, helpful, and work hard. They have made the place clean and inviting for adoptions and fostering. Many are happy with their adopted dogs, describing them as wonderful, sweet, and playful. However, the facility itself is old and in need of major upgrades or a complete new building, as the shelter is often overrun with animals. Some report difficulties contacting the shelter by phone, noting you may have to visit in person. Despite these challenges with the aging facility and capacity, the initiative is commended for its outstanding efforts to turn the shelter around and help the many stray and neglected pets in the community.

Very nice employees and good dogs. Got a very sweet and playful boy a few days ago and he's been doing great. Hope all the sweet pups go to good homes.

They work hard to help all the animals in this town. It's a real challenge here with sooo many stray and neglected pets here.

Good people, I'm sad about the dogs that have to be cooped up in the cages. Plus bark all the time. Clean cages as often as they can...
