Tims Ford State Park is absolutely a beautiful park with really nice hiking and biking trails. They make some of their trails fun and informative for children and adults alike (see my photos for a complete example). The park is always exceptionally clean with modern amenities and very nice campsites and cabins. Be sure to check out the Nature Center and birds of prey.If you like this post, please give it a thumbs up. Reviewed 11/08/2023

I never realized how enormous this park is! We put our kayaks in at Anderton Boat Ramp and rowed out to Pennington Cave. It was beautiful!

#44 We stayed the final weekend open for the season and it was a fantastic stay. There are paved paths for miles right there off the campsites. There are other trails as well not paved with but more tugged/traditional trails with bridges and cottonmouths lol be careful. The sites are close enough to the water for bank fishing. The bathrooms were great too. Clean when we arrived and convenient to our site #44, we were right across from them. These were a private bathroom shower situation in each door. The other shower house had men and women bathrooms and private showers separately. We visited the gift shop and information center, the people working there are helpful and friendly. I definitely recommend. We stayed just in time before the temps dropped from 80 degrees one day the day we left dropped to 45 during the day.

We took the new trail. The old Spann house trail. The trail itself was beautiful but sooo close to the main road made it hard to disconnect with all the road noise but it was a beautiful trail. Definitely wear boots and not tennis shoes. Several roots poking through. Several great elevation changes. Good trail. ?

We stay at the camp grounds at least once a year. The camp ground that is located away from the park is nice. It is more open with less shade. The bathhouse is newer with separate showers. This location would be nice if you hard and boat and had a site on the water. The older camp ground in the park is very shaded. Several/most of the sites on the inside of the loop have the electric and water hookups on the wrong side. This required us to use a 50 foot hookups (this seems to be very site dependent). There is a nice green way that runs on the outside of the camp ground that will take you to most of the park. It is nice to use the path to walk down to the water. There is no boat access for the camp ground but there is a boat ramp down the road.Trails in the park are nice (lots of spider webs depending on the time of year). There are some very cool bridges on the trails.Food is lacking in the park. Sometimes there is a food truck, but I assume there is no food at the park or close by.

I've been staying at Tim's Ford since 1987. The park has changed a little. The new tornado shelters that are terrible bathrooms is an unwelcome change. The campground and lake are very nostalgic for me and my son's.Nearby activities: Miles of trails and the lake.

A great state park in the interiors of Tennessee. Close proximity to Jack Danielle's at Lynchburg make this an absolute must visit. The water body is another special attraction over here. The trail is 1.3 miles long with moderate easiness to walk. Overall a great place of a half day visit.

Very nice park.Pros:- helpfully and interactive staff.- Nature center is staffed and great contact point. Plantings much appreciated.- grounds well maintained- untamed natural grasses in controlled areas to allow grow are just beautiful.- cabin decks are restful, best part of cabins.- open water kayaking is the best.Cons:- cabins are worn out and need deep cleaning and basic maintenance.Inside windows smeared and film on kitchen floor with crums stuck in.Light bulbs burnt out, noisy bath fans, door knobs falling off. Beds are hard.- kayak lake access seems restricted to marina in main park. Almost run over by marina staff (upon my beaching kayak for take out at ramp) moving pontoon boat to pick up dock. Staffer saw me but didn't seem to care. Safety issue.- would like to see a launch (even a path to a beach spot) for motorless boats slightly away from marina.Imaged Kayaks in brochure make it seem like park is more small boat friendly.- Sorely needs wifi. All in all, we had a great time and will tell folks ?.

Great park with 3 very different areas to take in nature and enjoy the camp grounds. First time visiting and really enjoyed the grounds. Due to some rain, we missed out on campfire and hike but very beautiful park.

Love this lake. It was so beautiful and the lake is huge. Great for pulling the tube behind the boat water skiing and jet skiing.

The campsites are unlike any campsite we have stayed at and I love how they do it. Your tent location is separate from the fire ring (which has its own grate for cooking on!), which is separate from where you park your car. This place is our little piece of heaven. My husband and I have stayed twice now, for our honeymoon and now our five year anniversary!
