What a fun outing! We drove almost an hour to enjoy Backermann's, and it was worth it! A beautiful day to drive was icing on the cake.
This is an Amish/ Mennonite store featuring fresh meats cheeses and baked goods. One side is a sandwich shop making good use of the meat department. They have several "named" sandwiches you can order, or you can build your own. They also have a soup bar with about 8 different kinds.
The other side is the store with the meat counter and baked goods. The shelves are loaded with jams, jellies, pickled goods, along with nuts and candies. Rounding out the store is a variety of items from sewing notions and toys to soaps and homeopathic medicines.
Outside features different cedar and cypress rockers and other furniture. There was also a variety of beautiful plants in urns and hanging pots.
We didn't make it to the back to see what other animals were sharing a space with a Tom Turkey!

We went to Backermann's Country Market for lunch today. As always, the food was excellent. We got there before 11:00 am to beat the lunch crowd. I got the pizza in i with chips and a drink and Dad got a sandwich with turkey and ham and a drink. When we finished our lunch, Dad decided that we needed dessert. He opted for a fried apple pie, and I got the monster cookies. Everything was delicious. We are always happy when we go there, as it's so close to home.

Wonderful staff. Amazing location. Great products. Great prices. I absolutely love love love this place. This my go to place to recharge myself. My mother in law who lives in Idaho, loads up. My late wouldn't allow regular store jelly or jams in our house. I'm the same way. I've always buy at least 3 jars.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️?????

We discovered this place by accident based on some suggestions from family and friends in Pennsylvania who frequent Amish and Mennonite markets. We drove about an hour from Cordova to get there but it was beyond worth it. We purchased fresh bread and pastries, tea, canned goods, juices, the most amazing yeast I have ever used for baking, amongst a few other things. We couldn't purchase any of the deli items this time around due to us having had many other stops along the way back, however we are absolutely returning on a regular basis to purchase from here again. The fresh rosemary and garlic bread was absolutely delicious. The lemon fried pie was so good I almost didn't share with my husband. The tea has been so surprisingly great. I used to work at Teavana back when it existed, so I'm familiar with tea and this tea from Backermanns has become my favorite tea to drink now. This time around we purchased the "back porch blend" tea and the "strawberry cream" types and they are both divine especially during these chilly fall evenings. I highly recommend this market. There's so many handmade items, natural items and fresh items (along with frozen meat and deli meats and cheeses!) that it's worth the drive from the Cordova and further areas. It's very clean inside and the staff is very polite and welcoming. We very much enjoyed our experience here.
