This is the place. I admit I was hesitant the first time, but after hearing Pastor Justin preach, I knew this was the place for me. That was almost two years ago, my first time coming and I'm still here and still love it. The Lords presence is always here. This is the place, this is my place. Come and see

If your looking for a place of worship that will accept you as you are, welcome you with open arms this is the place for you. We love pastor J and the entire staff. We started attending so we could serve our community. We volunteer in the food pantry and give God the glory for the opportunities he provides

Lady who RUNS the food bank should stay at home and not treat people like they are below her, just because they are poor. We definitely realize that she thinks she is closer to God than the common people and they are not worthy to be at The Avenue.

I went to the Avenue several years back for over a year. At this time I was going through one of the hardest times of my life. I never really felt like I was meant to be there. The church staff never one time acknowledged me. They have mentors in the church that would walk around and talk to people, pray with them. I never had anyone come to me and say “do you need prayer”? I guess being that I didn’t look the part with the ripped jeans & the feather earrings that I went unnoticed. The two final straws for me going there was when the pastor asked how many people owned an Apple phone raise your hand. Then asked how many people owned a Samsung raise your hand. He then began to make a mockery of the ones with Samsung phones.it was like he was belittling people for being poor and not having the high dollar phones. Please tell me what church would care what kind of phone you had or embarrass you for it? The final straw was when I took my 4 grandchildren to church. We went inside the lobby until the other church service was finished to wait for the 3rd service to begin. My 2 oldest grandchildren got a drink and asked me where to throw the empty cups. The only trash cans I saw was outside so I told them to take them out there & come straight back. Before they could get to the door to come back in a worker at the Avenue locked the door and wouldn’t allow them to enter. I was telling him from the inside that they were with me and I needed them to come in and sit down until the other service started. He kept shaking his head no. I was getting very upset as I had 4 kids I was responsible for and after a while he unlocked the door to which he replied “you have to understand I can’t let people in when a service is about to let out and a lot of people will be trying to get out of these doors”.. I told him “ you have to understand I brought 4 children here and you locked 2 of them outside in the cold when you clearly saw me at the door telling you they are with me”. I was livid and would of left if it weren’t for my youngest granddaughter who wanted to stay. That was the last time I stepped foot in that church. If you feel in your heart that God wants you at the Avenue, by all means go. But I felt in my heart and knew in my mind God did not want me there and so I did not belong there.

What I like: Pastor Justin is as real as they come. Preacher of righteousness and holiness. Not afraid to call out sin and unbiblical lifestyles. I believe he is trustworthy, ethical and a good moral man. Avenue wreaks of excellence and professionalism. Clean and orderly. Excellent children's program. My grandkids enjoy going even though they are very young. A safe place physically and spiritually. Alter calls every service. Lots of salvations. Very genuine people.
What I don't like: nightclub, concert like worship. Extremely loud, emphasis on performing songs and performance type atmosphere. I have seen people walk out, quite possibly because of the volume. Earplugs and and earmuffs not uncommon to see in use. Every week are brand new songs, at least to me and you see people staring at the screen trying to follow along rather than being able to "enter in". I have tried to "enter in" but about the time I close my eyes I get blasted with a spotlight. Very distracting for me. In all fairness people seem to enjoy themselves and enjoy being a part of the church. We are attending to help our kids get established in the area. I do not have a problem supporting the church as I believe they handle the finances with integrity. Not a church I would attend long term but that is just a style issue. Excellent preaching and kids program make this a decent place.

I cannot recommend this church enough. It is a place of upbeat worship and healing while being right in line with the word of God. They have life groups which you can join for a semester and get to know the other people in the church. This is something that is missing in other churches. Welcoming to the MAX! The pastors are on fire, humble, truthful and kind. Try it for 2 months, you'll never leave!
