T took my pet to Banfield in Smyrna Since 2020. I strongly urge you to not take your there. Vet Isabelle DeMartin is horrible and does not have the knowledge or compassion needed to care for pets. Here is my experience. She still works there. Id you have had a bad experience similar to mine at this location please contact me for news, print and media opportunities to tell your story and make banfield accountable
[email protected] Key issues include: 1. Failure to treat Cushing's disease: Despite a diagnosis on 6/11/2021 based on elevated liver enzymes, no medication was prescribed. 2. Misdiagnosis of strokes as nausea: Episodes of stumbling and head tilting in Nov 2022 were repeatedly attributed to nausea by Dr. Castillo. Only after I described the symptoms to a vet at your Franklin location was it identified as likely strokes. Willow suffered a severe stroke on 7/5/23, resulting in permanent disability, before finally receiving a neurology referral and proper treatment. 3. Inadequate response to dramatic weight loss: As Willow's weight dropped from 13 lbs to 5.8 lbs over 18 months, vets insisted it was a lack of calories rather than an underlying condition. Referral to a specialist was denied until I sought a second opinion at your Franklin location. 4. Failure to communicate diagnostic findings: Medical records showed Willow had a heart murmur that progressed from 2/6 to 5/6 severity, yet I was never informed nor was any treatment provided. Notes also indicated the vet was aware of previous strokes. 5. Delayed referrals: Despite alarming weight loss and chronic diarrhea, Dr. De Martin refused to provide a referral to an internal medicine specialist on 11/28/23. The Franklin vet immediately provided one the next day and the specialist diagnosed inflammatory bowel disease, gallbladder disease and a heart murmur. 6.Misdiagnosing Cushing's Symptom: During a visit with Dr. Isabelle De Martin, I expressed my concern about Willow's significant hair loss. Instead of considering the possibility of an underlying condition, Dr. De Martin incorrectly attributed the hair loss to the blood thinner medication prescribed by the neurologist. It was later confirmed by a veterinarian at Blue Pearl that hair loss is not a known side effect of blood thinners, but rather a common symptom of Cushing's Disease, which Willow had been diagnosed with through bloodwork back in June 2021. The emotional toll of watching my dog suffer, coupled with the realization that she was subjected to abuse and neglect by the very professionals I entrusted with her care, is immeasurable. Willow was not just a pet; she was a cherished member of my family, and the pain of losing her due to the inadequate care provided by Banfield is a burden I will carry for the rest of my life. Isabelle Demartin and Jullio Castillo will kill your pets

I was happy thinking I was going to walk out with a animal…Never had any issues until today. I wanted to get a hold of a new baby crested gecko… young lady with colored hair said the staff is short when there’s three people? Don’t understand how that would affect me not being able to get an animal. Not only this Pet Smart but another one as well a different location…these people really seem to be attached to the animals as well like if they don’t want to let them go to any customer. I felt judged in a way because honestly they really had time to care of this situation. The Boss but NOT the manager needs to have a word with the employees.

I’ve beem shopping at this PetSmart for 18 months. About 10 months ago my cats began requiring prescription food. I bought this food with the doctor’s prescription for 10 months. The cashiers actually told me to take a picture of it on my phone but I have always brought the actual prescription. Today that was not accepted. I was told, not kndly and not in a customer friendly way that I could not use the prescription, that I had to get a card from their in house vet. I had already waited a significant amount of time in line because two customers in front of me had an issue. It was surprising to me that she would argue with me about my past transactions. Not impressed.

Customer service is lacking with your cashiers. Everytime I go in it's typically the same cashier. An older woman who doesn't even acknowledge you when you enter the store and is less than pleasant when you go to check out. Crazy to me how they put all the different dog foods they carry out on the floor for anyone to buy, but there are specific ones you cannot buy unless you have a prescription. There's nothing indicating that you must have a prescription. And when I went to check out the lady acted like I was stupid and told me I couldn't buy it without a prescription. Wouldn't recommend this store.
