I went in on Friday evening on 7 /12/24 and I always come to this location because it’s the only RaceTrac in Shelbyville off 231 highway and the lady asked me for state ID to purchase a lighter and I purchased $15 in gas as well but what threw me off was I responded to the gas station cashier and said why do I need a state ID and she said that was the state law in Tennessee to have a license to purchase a lighter so I told her that was not true and went to pump my gas and looked up the state law about purchasing a lighter in Tennessee and it said that no person under the age of 10 years old could purchase a lighter and it doesn’t state that the customer has to have state license or identification and I definitely don’t look 10 years old and I’m a black woman who is 33 years old that is a known regular customer there and she definitely didn’t ask the white man after me that bought a lighter and he looked like he was in school tho and I don’t even understand why I was racially discriminated against and I will never recommend anyone of colored skin to purchase from that location and most color skin people purchase from this location and I went to store manager and she made it so worse by saying that is Alabama law and we in Tennessee and not near Alabama and nobody works there lives in no Alabama and driving to that location for work like that was so wrong and I will definitely be calling corporate to complain because that was really unfair and unnecessary and I treat people with the upmost respect and just because someone is a darker complexion doesn’t mean they should be treated differently than others and my family always comes to the location tho smh sad way to treat a consistent returning customer like this 2301 US-231, Shelbyville, TN 37160
google search: lighters in Tennessee?
Well, here's the scoop: Generally speaking, no federal laws stop anyone of any age from purchasing lighters.
Google search: The FDA does not regulate matches or butane lighters as tobacco products.
Only tobacco products require 21 years of age with state identification or license in Tennessee so please explain to me how this is legal or right for a cashier to misuse their authority and choose to not allow me access to purchase a product from the racetrac company gas location and then the manager says that she maybe going by Alabama law to avoid taking my complaint against the racist employee and she literally proved me right that she was doing exactly as I thought because she didn’t want to address the cashier or the problem and I even asked her to ring me up because I felt uncomfortable allowing the employee who did that to me and she didn’t even ring me up and said to purchase at the kiosk so I will definitely not return nor my family will purchase from this location or company ever again

Me and my gsd stopped in to grab some fuel I bought him 2 hotdogs to snack on and when I checked out the cashier with the name tag Lori asked me if I needed buns and wanted to make sure they were stocked and up to standard. I said "no ma'am these hot dogs are for my dog out in the truck" we had small talk about our pets and she asked if i needed anything else. I said yes but I can't remember so I'll just stop and get whatever it is later.she said does your pup need water? And before I knew it she was handing me a cup of water for my pup. I'm not sure if that's what I was forgetting but I know I needed it.Great job Lori for going above and beyond I hope the right people see this and they recognize you for the outstanding service

What I like is that they give you points and you can exchange them for food and drinks and sometimes you don't pay anything depending on the points you collect...

Walked in the store to purchase snacks and use the restroom. No one at cash-registers and bathrooms closed with an exclusion railing and no “wet floor signs” to limit liability while still allowing customers to use the restrooms. I then could hear a commotion from the kitchen so I called out for help; and a portly woman with a ponytail waddles out. I asked why the bathrooms were closed and she says “because they were just cleaned”. She claims they have to dry for 15 minutes and it’s near the end of her shift (undoubtedly she’s purposely closed off the restrooms so that they remain clean and she gets off on time) and there was no way I could use. So I hit the road to a friendlier store with employees more attentive to customer service than getting off on time, and with clean restrooms that they are also willing to let the customers use.

I've never had a bad experience in this store but you are not open 24 hours. And if there are ppl working they lock the doors and hide

There’s a side entrance off Peacock Road to the Racetrack gas station ? The GPS appears to take you on the scenic route to the entrance off the highway… yikes ?
