Great deal on a storage unit when we needed it. Just beware that there are mice in them. Ended up having to throw away some stuff due to feces and urine from the mice.

To accommodate an upcoming move, I spoke with Gary at Yes Self Storage in Powell about a storage unit at 11:30 A.M. on 8/9/21. Gary let me know they had two storage unit sizes available and I chose the larger of the two. Pricing was absolutely the highest of any storage facility in the area but they were the only ones with availability so I paid my first month. On my ride home I began to do a mental inventory of all of the things that were going to have to fit in the storage unit and I realized that I had bought far too small. Within half an hour of leaving the facility I called Gary and let him know of the situation and he just restated that the unit I reserved was the largest available. I told him that it is going to be far too small for me and I would have to consider other options. Gary responded with, "Ok.". I let him know that I would be in touch. Gary again said, "Ok.". This is pretty on brand for Gary as it seems working as manager for a storage facility is actually the perfect occupation for his personality type. This is not meant to demean those in the service industry, but to illustrate the opaqueness of Gary's apathy. On 8/9/21 at 12:00 P.M., I visited Gary again to conclude our business. Gary let me know that there is a 24 Hour Refund Period and that I was 30 minuets outside of it. According to Gary, this policy is iron clad and there was nothing he was willing to do to accommodate me. For clarity, I am not complaining about Gary being dishonest, as I do not believe he was. Could he have mentioned the 24 hour period when I spoke with him on the phone when I was telling him I had to seek another solution? Absolutely. Does him not doing so make him dishonest? No. From my vantage, Gary was either being incompetent or predatory. I'm honestly not sure which.I asked Gary for the name of the owner of the property, which he refused, as it is Top Secret information, apparently. Gary let me know he was the manager, so the buck obviously stops with him. I asked where documentation was that displayed this 24 Hour Policy and Gary said it was in my lease agreement. I asked Gary to produce a copy of said lease agreement, which he did. I asked Gary where in the lengthy document this clause was and Gary responded, "I'm not sure, but it's in there.". After reading it and not finding it, I updated Gary to which he responded, "I only said it *might* be in there.". At this point it was apparent to me that Gary just wanted me to go away. Gary was working on selling the storage unit I just got bilked over to a pleasant young woman so he had other things on his mind, I suppose. I calmly recommended to the young lady that she shop around as I would be nervous about being left in the customer service hands of Gary.I would be pretty mortified if I was the business owner and this type of thing was commonplace. I would also like to level-set and give added context to make sure anyone who reads this knows that I remained completely composed throughout the duration of this interaction and did not get "Karen-y" or loud or anything of the sort. And to his credit, Gary also did not get combative. His disposition of choice was apathy. I also accept the fact that if I had been thinking properly about my needs I never would have paid down for a storage unit that did not suit my needs. This is clearly my fault. But I do not feel I am being unreasonable to expect some form of accommodation to be made for me given the circumstances mentioned above. This is a customer service lay-up and Gary at Yes Self Storage Powell botched it terribly. The poor business practices of this location are truly disappointing and combined with their relative high price, I would highly recommend other buyers avoid Yes Self-Storage Powell (and Gary should he begin working elsewhere) like the plague.

So they sold my stuff and didn't ever call me to let me know, just left emails which, I don't read or check on a regular basis. I was always late but Gary , the manager, always made sure that I knew when my unit was going to be sold until last month with no phone call. I just don't understand why he wouldn't have contacted me bc he knew I always paid even all the late fees. And so when I called to make a payment, he informed me it had already been sold. And I was devastated bc my kids baby stuff and pics were in there. I asked Gary if he would contact the people that bought my unit so I could get some of my stuff back or at least my pictures that the people probably didn't even want and that I would pay them for whatever items they did not want. I could careless if they want to keep the lawn mower or basketball goal or whatever. I mean I get that it is all theirs now. I just asked nicely to see if that was an option and he said yes! And I was so pleased until I called back later and HE HUNG UP ON ME like a child several times and then he eventually let it go to voicemail. So I called from a different number and he answered and I was pretty much in tears about my kids stuff and HE HUNG UP ON ME again! I couldn't believe it!!!! I thought he said he was going to help me!! So I didn't ever go up there bc I knew he wouldn't help me. I just wanted my sentimental items back and if the people that bought my unit are reading this and have a heart and still have some of my kids pics and baby items (also my wedding pictures and my husband's mothers pics who passed when he was a kid) than I would be gladly to pay you for those particular items please. My email address is
[email protected] and God Bless You I'm hoping for a miracle here. I realize I didn't pay my storage unit on time and they had every right to auction off my unit but Gary said he would be happy to help and contact the people who bought my unit and then HE LIED and hung the phone up on me lots of times. So I am here hoping for a miracle bc I don't know how to find people that buy storage units. I have tried Facebook and asked around but no luck. So thanks for reading and if you rent a unit from here than make sure you pay on time or your stuff is gone forever. And the best advice I can give anyone is don't put anything sentimental in your storage unit. Thanks for reading
