I almost never write bad reviews but this “thrift” store is ridiculous. The level of greed is insane across the board, not just this location. $42 for a used/disgusting baby high chair. $50 for a used woman’s coat? My daughter grabbed a random/dirty used stuffed animal that was basic and they were trying to charge over $10 for it. I could MAYBE understand charging a little more for REALLY good condition furniture but they mark up prices for things that shouldn’t be. And of course all of their responses are the generic “ for the mission” but what about your community that puts money in your pocket? Do not shop or donate here!! Go to the Resale Rack, or honestly anywhere else.

Most expensive "thrift" store I've been to. Charging $25 for a picture frame? $40 for a clearly used blanket? Seriously? They're asking $5-7 for items that are so worn out (pilling, sweat stains, obvious heavy wear) that they really belong in the trash. Dollar tree items marked up to $5-10. Absolutely ridiculous. They'd make more money for charity if they lowered the prices so people could afford to shop there. It's cheaper to go to Walmart or Target.

There prices are getting absolutely ridiculous.... and I'm sorry but a lot of the clothing they choose to keep look very used. And to be charging that high on items that were giving to them

The store itself is very nicely Kept, the staff is always friendly. Their prices are almost more expensive than shopping NEW items ! It’s extremely unacceptable for them to be down the street from The community Chest in Powell, Tn!!! I understand the profits go to feed others but, their prices are not acceptable for. Helping the community - people who NEED FOOD can not afford to shop there

My thoughts on KARM have changed over time. I volunteered at this “ministry” my senior year of high school for my senior project. My first job out of high school was at KARM. I’ve sorted in the back room for them, stocked shelves and racks and ran a register. A close relative worked at KARM and at that time we were so passionate about their mission. I also met and married an abuser that called himself an “apostle” at this ministry so needless to say there’s lots of emotions and trauma tied into this place for me. At that time of volunteering and working there, the person overseeing the thrift store part of the ministry (a very dear friend of mine) had a vision to sell nicer, higher quality items at a decent price. He’s no longer with KARM and since his departure, this ministry (if you can call it that) has in my opinion been taking a steady nose dive. The community has expressed a great deal of dislike for how ridiculous the prices have become and KARM continues to open more stores with the profit. If they allocated funds to make a greater impact for the homeless community instead of opening more stores (like they need more) maybe I could accept a price increase in the stores. That said, prices have gone up everywhere for everything and that’s inescapable at this point. We do still shop here but it’s not nearly as often as it would be if they truly priced things fairly. Something about this location in particular that I find especially offensive is that they won’t allow you to use the restroom. They play Christian music, have a prayer request book, ask $40 for a framed photo or $20 for a dress, won’t allow you to try on clothes without permission (even the mall doesn’t do that! Come on! Its a thrift store!) Then they ask for an ADDITIONAL donation at checkout (even if your total is $200) then refuse to let you use the toilet. We have a chronically ill child that can quickly need to get to a restroom and that’s not okay with KARM but they’re “changing lives in Jesus name.” It just doesn’t add up to me. If your mission is to change lives, start with those that are supporting you financially! Letting someone use the toilet or try on clothing without treating them like a criminal is a great place to start. I don’t think these issues with KARM will ever change unless they’re forced to make change and the only way that will happen is if the community pulls back on their support.
And no need for a response - I’ve been behind the scenes of this place and explaining the reasoning on a Google review to make it look more kosher to the public is a waste of time and energy.
For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

they sell used clothes for retail prices here lol. they always respond saying it’s to help the homeless but somehow i doubt that. Go to Amvets instead, they adhere to their mission statement

Above retail price for many items. They'll say it's "for the mission" but do you ever notice they can expand dozens of stores across the region, but the homeless mission is never expanded? It's all a fraud. AMVETS is an actual thrift store that actually uses the money like they say they do.

They have lots of things, the store is decorated nice and clean. The only downside is that 90% of the items for sale are priced so high that you may as well go but new things. Honestly alot of the stuff there cost more than if you bought it new. It supposed to be a thrift store where people who are in need, can go and buy the stuff they need for a reasonable price. They are definitely out of touch with the pricing there...
