Local music shop in the heart of Portland since 1999. Ran by owner/operator Steve Austin and assisted by myself, this small shop has loads of gear, but most importantly has loads of personality.

Whether it has been the purchase of guitars, an amplifier, accessories, or guitar lessons, all of my interactions with Steve Austin Music have been nothing but the best. Steve Austin is a knowledgeable and patient teacher, and another guitarist and collector has been most complimentary of the guitars that I have purchased there. Steve also gives his students the opportunity to perform in a professional setting. I would highly recommend Steve Austin Music to potential customers and students, whether young or old.

Small businesses are the heart of small towns , and we are lucky to have this one here in Portland. In the last 20 years, Steve Austin has schooled hundreds of children in music, provides live entertainment in town, and has a unique store where you can shop for instruments, supplies, sheet music, and more. I highly recommend Steve Austin Music for all your musical needs in Sumner County.

Do not and I repeat do not use Steve Austin's Music for any of your music lessons. After spending lots of money on a guitar for my son, we got him lessons from there. The owner I'm assuming told me we needed to do the hour lessons which we said was fine. We paid almost 200 dollars for 4 lessons and some books he recommended. With our schedule being weird he was nice enough to work with us. First guitar lesson was 11/23 (my sons birthday) he was super excited to start. Well I got 2 phone calls from 2 different ppl saying Steve Austin had to reschedule.. I knew there was a chance because he told me that before we made the appointments. I understand being the holiday that might happen. No big deal. I was told he would call and reschedule. My sons next lesson was 11/26 last Saturday at 4. I tried calling all day to make sure his lesson was still on but no one answered. 4:00 rolled around, we show up and the doors were locked, lights off and no one there. No one called to cancel Saturdays appointment, no one called to reschedule last Wednesdays. I sent him a message on fb to explain how excited my son was to be disappointed not once but twice by him and how unprofessional he was and I told him I expected him to call me and refund my money . He finally responded with if I would calm down he'd refund every penny. It's really not about the money to me. It's the fact of how unprofessional he was and I even had ppl telling me he would do this.. but I trusted he would do the right thing. I was definitely wrong. All it would have took was a phone call to reschedule and say something came up. But nope nothing. So please do yourself a favor, don't use him..

Steve was very nice let my young son look around and he played a few of the instruments so my son could hear them. Was very patient with him and answered his questions.

Super helpful with my many questions, even when I was there more out of curiosity than as an active shopper. Love the rare finds that the right person will scoop up (and be very lucky to find). For example, there are electric guitar parts such as bodies, old pianos, analog sound tech, XLR snakes, slide guitar, and so much more. FUN store.
