I moved to town early this year and I wanted to keep my Miami-based 100% remote consulting business, so I aimed to establish a new checking account here at Old Hickory Credit Union with my brand new registered business in Tennessee. Unfortunately, my experience was incredibly disappointing.
The staff had no clue about my type of business, which provides remote consulting services and does not require a license according to the Department of Revenue of the State of Tennessee. I came with all the documents that I needed and they insisted on seeing a business license that I certainly don’t need. They told me to go home and said they would contact me later.
As I was leaving this place with the feeling of being mistreated, I decided to go to the closest Bank of America branch and within 20 minutes, I had a new business account set up without any hassle. Their staff was friendly, they treated me with kindness, respect, and provided me with the assistance I needed. It’s been 3 months ever since and my business is doing fantastic!
Later that same day, I received a voice message from Old Hickory Credit Union informing me that their “compliance department” stated that because I was not licensed for the services that I was providing (hahaha I don’t need a license!) that they unfortunately would not be able to open any type of account for me or my business and advised me not to return to their bank because, again, they wouldn’t open any type of account for me. Really? This people not only is illiterate but so discriminatory. The entire experience was rude, unprofessional, and ignorant. By the way, the person that spoke to me is B a i l e y and this happened in March 19, 2024.
I don’t recommend this Old Hickory Credit Union at all. Other customers should stay away from this place and find a bank that treats them with respect and professionalism.

We as a family choose to use Old Hickory Credit Union for our banking needs bc they are like family when you go there! Abigail is always so helpful and sweet! Helps us with a smile on her face! You don’t find that much anymore !!

I worked in smyra when I joined the credit union I think in the late 80's and I am still a member. I gave my children & grandchildren their first checking account with Old Hickory.
