The Nashville Food Project prepares meals for distribution by other non-profit organizations to those in need, which includes poor elderly, school children, and victims of natural disasters. The staff are top notch, and their kitchen is a shining example of what a commercial kitchen should be. They receive donations from various businesses like Whole Foods, as well as local farmers.I provide a knife sharpening service to the NFP at no charge, as my contribution to their efforts.

My husband and I recently started volunteering with The Nashville Food Project as a way to do some volunteer work together and I am so happy that we did! First of all it was super easy to sign up, just search online and fill out your info, pick a day and find a volunteer opportunity! It's that simple! Today we did our second time volunteering with the meal prep group and it was just as fun and fulfilling as the first time! Everyone who takes their time to run The Nashville Food Project are so nice and appreciative. They need so much help y'all! We cut veggies and fruit, prep meals, do some light cleaning, and enjoy the company and stories of others that are volunteering. It's amazing to give back to our community and be an active part in making it a better place! There are so many opportunities to volunteer with them and so many tasks to choose from. It's been eye opening to learn about our community and the food security issues many face in our own neighborhoods. Food insecurity is such a problem in our country faced by so many, young, old, families, and even those who work experience food insecurity. The Nashville Food Project is doing their best to make sure that those in our community have the food they need while educating those who volunteer. So if your looking for a great way to give back to your community and a wonderful way to fill some available time in your day then I highly recommend you sign up or stop by and see what it's all about!!
