I have been sick and unable to get out to the stores like I want but tonight I was able to run into the Madison, TN branch Old Time Pottery for 30 minutes before they closed with my family. Although the sign says they close at 9pm, an abrupt, short, and tasteless announcement suddenly came over the PA system at 8:47pm that said: "ATTENTION CUSTOMERS! WE ARE NOW CLOSED!" followed by an abrupt hang up. My family and I walked to the front and asked one young lady what time they close and she said, "I don't know, "she" said now. Today's my first day." As I looked around for the "she" that this young lady was referring to, I was not pointed in this "she's" direction so we just walked towards the front door. There is where we found a lady sternly waiting at the door to let us out. I looked at my mother who had arrived at the door before me and she began to explain what the lady said. My mother said, "She is saying they close now but the sign says 9!" When I looked at this lady for more of an explanation, she continued to look out the doors with her hands positioned to let us out as if to say, " Yep that's what I said now get out because I'm not gonna give any explanation or understanding!" It's been a long time since I encountered such blatantly effortless customer service. In fact there was no service at all. We had items in our hand and were ready to purchase but we were moved to put everything back after this. Besides, we were never invited to bring our items to the front for checkout anyway. I'm very disappointed that such a beloved store has been taken over by representatives that threaten to completely kill the rich experience that so many people have known for years. How much disregard for basic human needs does it take to ruin an entire store or company name. Time will tell. Hopefully the faces we saw tonight are not the only ones who determine the climate and ultimate future of this store.

VERY large and took an hour to shop around. The rug selection is fantastic. The front cashier is friendly and helpful. However the black lady manager is as rude and mean as they come. She snapped at customer buying furniture because the item didn't have s price tag. And then yelled at cashier because she called her girl help on pricing. Manager should be fired. It's her job to have tagged items and assist employees as well as well to customers. LOL we all saw the horrible attitude and rude language. Because of that my review dropped as I don't want to witness poor service from management... My expectations plummeted.

I could spend an entire day in this store. I visited this store growing up but back then foolishly didn’t see much fun in spending a while just browsing the kitchen utensil aisle, ha. Five or so years ago I came back to stock my new home with all the silly things - paper towel holder, ice cream scoop, spatulas and tons of bathroom stuff. Every couple months I’ll pop in just to see what’s new and I really enjoy it! There are great clearance items and more seasonal decor aisles than anywhere else. Also, all my patio folks - come thru bc they’ve got every color cushion you could imagine! Also also, wall art and other decor items for dayssss.
I can’t help but imagine several of the negative reviews are solely based on location, I hope that doesn’t stop anyone from visiting because it’s really such a fun store!

Its been a while since I shopped at Old Time Pottery and its so run down. The staff today were so unprofessional and they use their time to play around the register while ignoring customers and their needs. Lack of supervision from management. The front of the store was nasty and needed some housekeeping. Needed to use the restroom and both bathrooms were out of order. Not good. This is not the same Old Time Pottery that I spent hours enjoying shopping in. Please tell me why and what happened to your great sevice. The Old Time Pottery that use to be is no more a n d this saddened me.

It has been a while since last time . It's always a treasure hunt. Staff was busy getting spring items on the shelves, but they were still helpful and nice.

Tornado Naena Null reporting from Nashville·Was out and about this afternoon, getting groceries and running errands. Needed to get household supplies, so went to Walmart in Rivergate. Pull up to Walmart, and daughter's boyfriend goes to get me an electric shopping cart. Security is outside, and Walmart is NOT letting anyone in. Sky is dark and getting darker. It's about 4:15pm. So, I decided we'd just go home, because we hear the tornado sirens. I usually take the back roads, because I hate Gallatin Rd traffic, but the voice in my head said to stay in Gallatin Rd. I get to Old Hickory Blvd, and the sky is pitch black. The voice tells me to pull into the parking lot and go in to Old Time Pottery. The manager was coming to lock the door just as Jessica and KenLynn got in, and she asked him to wait because I was coming in with her boyfriend, and I walk with a cane. He let us in then a few more and locked the door. We were in there maybe 3 minutes, and the lights went out. They told everyone to head to the bathrooms, and used their phone flashlights to show the way. By this time, you could hear the wind and hail and the freight train sound. After about 15 minutes, the manager said the tornado had passed, and we could leave, but anyone who wanted to stay was welcome to stay, but because there was no power, no one could shop. I was so thankful that he let us in, that I hugged him and thanked him, because we could have been out there in the midst of the tornado. He hugged me back, told me his name was Anthony, and said when I come back to shop, ask for him, and he would take care of me.I say this to say that this business put the safety of people first, and let in everyone they could that was seeking shelter from the storm, unlike Walmart, who was sending people away. Three people lost their lives in the tornado that hit Madison, just a few blocks from Old Time Pottery. Houses were destroyed, power lines down. I am truly thankful and grateful that the voice who spoke to me (God) told me to go to Old Time Pottery, because the street that got hit by the tornado is the back road that I generally take to avoid Gallatin Rd traffic. God was truly watching over me!!

Very sad to say I've made my last trip. Buyers beware. I purchased something for my daughter that she couldn't make work yesterday . Today I returned to the store with the receipt and was told because it was apparently on sale( I didn't even realize it at time of purchase so definitely not much on sale) and they will not return any item that's on sale. Or exchange for at least something that will work. Truly a horrible return policy. The receipt says CLEARANCE isn't eligible for returns. And they have many items marked clearance but they tell you AFTER the fact that they consider all sales to be clearance whether marked as such or not. Super shady. A business with integrity doesn't need to fool you into purchasing thinking they have this wonderful return policy. Let me save you the trouble . Shop elsewhere. They had a great thing going years ago. Now with all the places like they used to be, offering much better shopping experience, it's a wonder they haven't been forced out of the game.
