We had a custom table built by Karmal Skillington and it came out better than we could have imagined. We bounced ideas back and forth and we sent them some pictures for reference. They were amazing and patient working with us as our vision and requests were quite extensive and specific. They were also great about communicating with us throughout the process, which was refreshing for a custom build. The table came out ahead of schedule and looks beautiful. Forever piece. Plotting ideas for the next build. Would recommend 10/10

Purchased a dining room table with 2” oak lumber from an old barn floor. Despite the challenge, Leigh and her artisans produced a beautiful top for the table and a bench. This furniture will be in our family for years to come! Thanks Kamal Skillington for exceeding our expectations.

Leigh and her team of expert woodworkers not only built us the bar of our dreams, but a bar that completely transformed our basement and the neighborhood we live in. Our bar is not your typical 'basement bar' and the team at Karmal Skillington are not your typical cabinet makers. I worked hand in hand with Leigh to design an \"Irish Pub\" that rivals any commercial bar in the City of Brentwood, Tennessee. Seriously... Any bar, in any restaurant, does not come close. The bar, named after our dog \"Bourbon 'O Hayden's\" is a behemoth of a bar, measuring approximately 15ft in length by 10.5ft deep. It's built from a combination of beautiful reclaimed hemlock and white oak, which was used for the bar top and counters. Leigh went out of her way to source the perfect wood (even driving out of State to get it!) and she really honed in on the details. Not only did Leigh check off all the boxes on my extensive list of must haves, but she checked off boxes that I had never even imagined. This bar has everything, ample wine and whiskey storage, custom drawers and shelves for an array of glassware and bar tools, two built-in kegerators, a beautiful brass foot rail, a built-in beverage/wine fridge and even a custom cabinet to store a collection of tap handles. Leigh didn't stop there. Once the bar was complete, she helped to transform the space even further with 9 floating shelves and a custom barn door which was designed to resemble the St. Jame's Gate in Dublin, Ireland. A door that has protected the Guinness Beer Empire since 1759, now has a little brother in Brentwood, TN and it's a custom-made work of art! Our Irish Pub is now the local hangout for our neighborhood and has become a great escape for my wife and I. We can't wait to host friends and family for yearly Superbowl's, Oktoberfest's and of course, St. Paddy's Day. We highly recommend Leigh and her team of artisans for any job BIG or small. They knocked our project out of the park and we could not be happier with the finished product. CHEERS!

I am very pleased with my new island. The quality is outstanding and the design was thoughtful to gain as much storage as possible. Leigh kept us informed every step along the way. The delivery team was professional and on time. Our project was even completed well in advance of what we expected. I really appreciated this as we had company coming in to town so Leigh worked to accommodate us. I will certainly use them when I am ready for my next project. Their prices are also competitive.Service: Cabinet construction & installation

We were looking to redo our kitchen and started getting quotes from people/companies. We saw a magazine add from Karmal Skillington discussing new kitchens so we called and she seemed to be ready and willing for the job after pictures and measurements were shared. My wife and I felt good about the communication and drive. She sent out a designer to get a good idea of what needed to be done. In the end we liked the design compared to existing so we decided to move forward with them and paid 25% (about 15k). We were waiting just over a month to then here from her asking for our signature to be able to place the order of materials. This shocked us knowing it had already been so long from our deposit and we were expecting to be hearing materials arrived and we can schedule once we assemble them. Around that time we were told we need to have the existing kitchen removed with electrical and plumbing in place for them before they can come out and install. We were shocked because none of this was shared with us before. Because of the miscommunication, she did agree to have someone come out and remove the existing cabinets for us. From that point on she told us over and over during the process that “I (we) are not a contractor”. Which was very irritating. When the materials finally arrived 2.5 months later, we learned around that time the person, (old employee) the only one with any cabinet experience, lives in Georgia. So we had to wait to schedule on his time not ours. Once again very frustrating. We learned the measurements were off and more items needed to be ordered to even continue the project. We reached out to the designer, who we were only able to meet with twice before the project, because there was confusion on where and how to place the cabinets. This was frustrating because we are trusting that who ever was in charge of the project knew what they were doing. Apparently the designer not an employee was more knowledgeable about the project. We were not able to have communication with the designer at this point since she told us she was only told to just design it. So they told the designer to stop communicating with us. As a person who is paying lots of money to redo a kitchen, we wanted to feel confident that the kitchen was going to be done right. We did not have a lot of confidence, just more frustration. As more weeks passed and things were finally somewhat in place (bottom half not secured to wall yet) they asked for the final remaining 25% balance before the job was even done because it had been so long and they have been doing everything they can. We were once again shocked but politely declined due to our experience up until that point with lack of professionalism and as they kept saying “we are not a contractor”. We wanted to honor the contract and wait for the project to be completed before we paid the remaining balance. There address says Franklin but we learned with the many times they had to come to our job that they operate and live an hour from Brentwood/Franklin area. They do seem to have great reviews for years which was one of the reasons we chose them but it’s only for tables, islands, etc. They are new to doing kitchen remodels and we were one of the firsts. I have zero experience with kitchens but I do have experience with customer service, professionalism, and communication . If you are looking to do a kitchen or anything more then smaller stuff like tables, islands find someone else. Job was October - April. They did their best and are not bad people, we have no ill will toward them but like we were told over and over they are not a contractor, so please do yourself a favor and go find someone else.

We love the coffee table the we had made by Karmel Skillington. We saw a table on the cover of a magazine that we liked. Leigh was incredibly helpful to take the idea and make it into a reality. Along the way she helped to make suggestions to make the finish and the color exactly what we were looking for. We previously bought a desk and chair from them, and that was a beautiful piece of furniture as well. Would absolutely recommend them for anyone seeking very high quality, hand-made furniture.Service: Custom furniture

We worked with Leigh and her team to create a custom king sized bed. I only provided a photo off the internet of what I wanted. This team exceeded all expectations in delivering a high quality, beautiful legacy piece of furniture that will enjoyed for years to come!!! Leigh communicated throughout the entire process and was WONDERFUL to work with. We would absolutely work with the Skillington team again on future projects.Services: Delivery

We love our farmhouse table and bookcase! Many discussions, drawings and even a house call from Leigh went into this in order to get it perfect. She really stands behind her products (works of art!) and made absolutely certain it was exactly as we envisioned it.We have collaborated with Leigh since 2011 on our custom-made furniture and knew when we started building our new house that we wanted her to build our new pieces. I had dreamed of a farmhouse table that my family could all gather around—but we did not have the space. So when we started talking to her about the new furniture, we already knew that we would not only have high quality furniture that would be in our family for generations, but it would also be functional and beautiful!Services: Custom furniture
