Consumer: Ask questions before handing over documents. Make it clear why you are there if you have a specific issue
I normally file my own taxes. Simple nothing major. This year I received a letter. I'm terrified but I feel confident because I thought I was protected considering I filed through H&R Block last year. Fast forward...I called customer service initially they encouraged for me to log into the account and it would guide through the steps. There was a link to set an appointment if you received a letter so I took that approach. I prefer to meet in person. I felt uneasy upon arrival...I was not a fan of the lady at the front desk not the best greeting ?
I'm already nervous considering my situation. I was asked for my documents, I gave what I had
I honestly felt once I said "I'm really here because of the letter" that should have been the main focus
This was said before the tax prepare started inputting my data. I don't mind paying for the service I needed assistance on. And really this could have been avoided if the representative that I spoke with initially directed me in the right direction
Thanks to Julio l, who listened to me set me up with a new appointment directed to help with my primary concern
The lady that prepared the taxes was polite. I just wished she listened and solely assisted me on the primary issue that would have been worth the money.

My tax expert knew what she was doing. She collected all the info upfront and walked me through the process. Because of her I opted to have the peace of mind for the care plan they offer cause if the IRS ever come knocking I know I got a warrior at my back. She knew her stuff like she was dishing out the tea!!
