As an ordained elder in the United Methodist Church, it was important for my family and me to find an open an affirming congregation when I began family leave in the summer of 2021.When we first arrived at Glendale UMC, we knew this place was a wonderful fit for us. Glendale welcomes and affirms all of our LGBTQ+ siblings but doesn't stop there! They also make sure that neurodiverse folks are welcomed and loved and try to make sure the church is accessible as it can be.Since being on family leave, I've been working full-time as a volunteer chaplain to the tabletop gaming community and, honestly, I have never seen a United Methodist Church so supporting and affirming of this ministry.I have also found Glendale to be a community of faith that is quite diverse. The age range of this congregation is also amazing. There are a number of young families as well as older folks worshipping together each week which is a wonderful expression of the Body of Christ. The Geekpreacher

I had become increasingly dissatisfied over several years with my experience in the church I have been attending, and was actively seeking a new church family. I had heard of Glendale and "attended" some online services during the COVID-19 shutdown, and even made a few contributions. Fast forward a year or so ago after trying out other churches that were physically closer to my home, but not quite the right fit based on what I heard from the pulpit but mostly from the people there...I attended my first in person service there at Easter 2022 with my son. And that was that. The love was palpable, they sang old school hymns which I had missed tremendously, and everyone was so welcoming. I fully believe that if Jesus were to walk into Glendale, He would be smiling and nodding, saying "this is how you are my hands and feet in my community, this is how you serve".Glendale is the most inclusive church family I've ever experienced.God's love is practiced there, and walks out into the world. Glendale provides a template of how to share God's love and grace without judgemental bias, in my opinion.

If you are looking for an amazing, inclusive community to worship this is it! When I walked in, I was greeted with huge smiles and genuine affection. My husband and I have become members and strive to make others feel as welcome as we were. We are open to ANYONE who is at whatever point in their faith walk, no matter what their identity, gender, race or any other label society has given us. Your journey with God is yours, we’re here to support one another!

Glendale is an amazing church where people are welcomed. Differences are embraced and celebrated, and people are loved and loving. My family had found a home and refuge there, after being at many different churches. Open hearts, minds, and doors arent just words at Glendale.

Glendale has been nothing but welcoming and accepting everytime I have attended. Everyone is super nice and loving and you feel it as soon as you step out of your car onto the church property. I immediately felt like part of a community that cared intimately about how everyone else was really doing, united by faith and by the struggle to stand up for what is right. If you are combing through these reviews looking for a church, know that some have decided to give 1 star ratings due to the message of inclusion from our church, but all that is just merit less pushback and if anything it proves how committed we are to being a light for all in our community.

We came to Glendale not even sure if church was relevant in our life or even the world anymore both for personal reasons and for heartbreak over what Christianity as a whole has become. But we came with a vague hunger for something we couldn’t quite put into words - both for ourselves and for our teenagers. After trying Glendale a few times, we realized what that “something” was - community. A legit welcoming community whose entire identity is to love people “no matter where they have come from or where they are going, what they believe or are doubting, the color of their skin, who they love, or how they identify”. And a community that makes clear its commitment to advocate for those with less privilege and seek social justice for ALL people. That my teen wrote his own 5 star review makes my heart happy because it confirms to me after years of questioning that we made the right choice to give Glendale a try because there we found a place where the whole family feels loved and valued just as we are. Thank you Glendale!

Glendale is such a warm and welcoming place. Everyone works to make sure that each person feels included and welcome, regardless of their background or even how they might differ from others in the church, and I strongly believe that anyone who comes with an open heart would feel that same sense of being both included and loved.

Glendale is a beautiful representation of God’s expansive love and how that love helps create beloved community. Glendale embodies Christ’s uncanny ability to welcome and include everyone - even and especially children. If/When my kids embark on the journey of faith, it will be at Glendale UMC.

Glendale is a place of love and acceptance. I was able to find my home and chosen family here. There’s so much joy experienced in the church and through the people who attend Glendale!

Everyone here is welcoming and affirming. There are plenty of fun activities to participate in. At Glendale it feels more like I’m an important part of the conversation. Instead of following a set path. I would recommend this church to anyone!

I swore I would never step foot in a church again, or never would willingly. I grew up in the church and witnessed so much hypocrisy and not seeing the true love of Jesus loving everyone. My husband wanted to go back to church and my stipulations were inclusive, affirming and progressive and we found Glendale. When I say they LOVE everyone, they truly love and accept everyone.

not a real church. pride is a sin. so a church celebrating and embracing sin is a church that deserves a 1 star. Please turn to God. There’s no problem with loving them. but telling them it’s ok to sin i will not support. Leviticus 18 and 20"You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination." Chapter 18 verse 22. "If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them." Chapter 20 verse 13.

I went and visited there and the entire inside is red orange because the windows are red orange I don't know if it's supposed to represent the blood of Christ but it's kind of eerie

After moving back to Nashville, I knew it was time to return to church. Growing up, I attended a couple of other nearby local United Methodist churches. Despite a wonderful experience, I was ready to find a new faith home so I decided to give Glendale a try. I was overwhelmed by how welcoming Glendale was to everyone who walked though the door and immediately knew I found my new church family. I am so grateful for the friends I have made here.

I found a place at Glendale UMC. The congregation is warm, friendly, and accepting. The best word I can use to describe Glendale UMC is authentic. I feel free to be myself and am accepted for who I am and where I am on my life's journey. I never thought I would be active in a church again, but Glendale UMC changed my mind.
