I would like to inform anyone who is considering this place to know that you are not allowed to go to the back with your pet. I did not know this nor did it state this anywhere on their website. The place at the time seemed heavily understaffed and I had to wait nearly an half an hour extra just to get checked in. This level of short staffing is a clue as to how bad this practice was. They also seem to be quite outdated in their methods. Their office also looks quite dated. If one isn't willing to update their practice's methods to better modern equipment is questionable. Finally, the veterinarian himself was awful. I watched him as I was waiting for my cat to be checked on speak with other people about their pets. He was a very condescending and judgmental man especially towards women. My own experience was abysmal. He was questioning the validity of my cat's autoimmune disease that had been diagnosed by a different vet. He was very judgmental and was encouraging long-term steroid use on my cat, which most vets would not recommend due to the shortened life span and issues.I wish I could say that's all that happened, but unfortunately that is not the case. My cat is special needs and needs to be handled in a very careful and gentle manner. It requires patience. I have no idea what this vet and vet techs did to my cat, but he began screaming. Not meowing, but actual horrifying screaming. Everyone in the waiting room could hear him and people outside the building could also hear his screams.I was absolutely enraged by this, I have visited multiple different vets with my cat and he has never screamed like this before in his life. They eventually handed him back to me and he was inconsolable for nearly an hour. The stress they put him through also led to flaring up his autoimmune disease and he caught an upper respiratory infection as well. The practice also charges about the same as any other practice around here so this is not a cheaper office nor is it suitable for special need pets.I will never go back to this place again and I do not think this man should be running a veterinarian business in the first place if he isn't capable of helping and caring for animals.

This hospital is the best I’ve ever found for my babies. The vet and his staff are very caring and are always there for us. I trust them with my little ones.

I took my dog here months ago for her shots. We had been going here for a good period of time. I never liked the fact you cannot go back with your pet anytime you go but I just looked past it. The last and final visit I was there when the vet tech came out to get my dog. My dog jumped up in my lap in fear and pushed against me. Then she as she proceeded to get closer to my dog she did growl at the lady which is super odd for my dog. She’s always very sweet and has great temperament. In the past she had always done great being there before. The lady then proceeded to yell at my dog and tell her “You do not do that!” Then took my dog to the back. I have concern someone did something to hurt my dog for her to act like this. I will unfortunately never know for sure.I will NEVER take her back here. I no longer trust them. It even has made me question if the services I was paying for were actually being done! How will I ever know if they were adequately assessing my dog? I really hope the staff will practice on their professionalism and how they treat animals. She is absolutely scared to death each time she goes to the vets office now. I am so greatful the new vets office is extra gentle and treats her like their own. They are making it feel like a trusting environment unlike this office.

I thought this was a good place, I took my dog there and they treated her and her brother's (A few years ago) But June the 30th 2023 @ 7:30 a.m I called them and told them the issue that I was having with Chess. They told me to bring her in asap, So I did at 8:00 a.m they didn't treat her or nuttin, They just ran test on Chess and she had parvo and they didn't do nuttin else, So I called at 9:30 a.m she said that they have to take care of all the other animals 1st bc they had apportionment b4 her. So by 12:30 p.m my Chess died in my arm's, She waited till momma got there. ?

Wife just brought our Chess back in from here. Dropped her off like they suggested... Wife went back to get her and bring her home... Just watch her die for in her arms while she's there. That'll be $150... To watch my doggie die?Did a couple test.. NOTHING to help her in any way... But it's that much, to do nothing?

If I could give zero stars, I would. Ridgefield Animal Hospital does not allow pet owners to go beyond the lobby for anything involving their pets' care. Whether it be annual exams or end of life. They used to use covid as an excuse, but they told me last week that the CDC will not allow them to have people in the back due to poor ventilation. I took my dog to Ridgefield in April concerned about a persistent cough he had. After spending maybe 5 minutes with him, Dr Hewitt said the problem was he was overweight and fat was constricting his airway. On Friday May 26th I brought my dog back asking for X-rays and blood work because he had gotten worse. Dr. Hewitt told me it was either a respiratory infection, for which they gave meds, or cancer. By Tuesday my dog was in respiratory distress. Even knowing that he probably wasn't going to make it, and after pleading with Ridgefield to let me stay with my dog, I was told if I brought him in, I could not stay with him. Fortunately, I found another veterinary hospital, who although they had never seen my dog before, was caring and compassionate above and beyond. The vet and his staff gave up their lunch time to try to find out what was wrong with my dog, and when the inevitable was known, they gave me all the time I needed to be with my dog as he crossed The Rainbow Bridge. Dr Hewitt's condescending attitude and lack of compassion for pets and their owners is cruel and heartless.

Really thought a vet was by nature a caring person towards animals. I was wrong. I had my dog spayed. Picked her up Saturday. Dr. Hewitt said cones “were d***** By 1 my dog had ripped all stitches out and was bleeding and very scared. Had to take her to Five Rivers as Ridgefield closed at 12. 1700$ and another surgery later she survived. I called Dr Hewitt. No one would call me talk to me or acknowledge what we had been thru. I will never return nor recommend him to anyone. The only one who cares is Danielle the groomer who tried to get someone to call me. No luck. Beware.

They are very kind and helped me with a nutritious homemade formula recipe for my neonate kittens ! They also treat my dog with bad allergies and the vet always gets his symptoms cleared up within a day or so . This is a really good place if you have a sick pet , and they care about what they do .

First time at this clinic, however, it will not be the last. Dr. Hewitt and his staff did a wonderful job treating my Golden Retriever today. Can’t thank them enough for their friendly service and treatment.

We followed our groomer here! She is the best, our kids have never looked so good after she gets done. They love her, they look sharp and smell great. We have 9 Jack Russells, and they love spa day. Cosmo our youngest just had his first spa day. Apparently she's started up her business here. Yay it's a drive but she's worth it!

I brought my cat in and specifically asked for a blood pressure and blood work because she was going blind. She was sent home with nothing but an antibiotic shot. No blood pressure was done. The vet stated that he did not believe it was blood pressure related. Took her to UT a week later and her blood pressure was very high (225 to be exact, ut said they like it to be around 160 or below). She came home with blood pressure meds to take twice a day along with 2 different eye drops every 8 hours and eye ointment that was obviously needed just from looking at the marks on her eyes from not being able to completely close due to the eye bulging. So after paying Ridgefield over $500 for absolutely nothing, I would suggest becoming more educated if pets lives rely on our decisions.
